Team #12 Brotherhood of the Bloodtrailers

Tomorrow is opening day for the upstate in SC. I'm taking a friend with me in the morning to try and get his first bowkill. We set our climbers up this afternoon in a big oak stand about five feet apart. I worked out a deal with him that he can smack a big doe if it walks out, but if one of the deer on my hitlist comes out then he's all mine.

man i keep forgetting to check this thread. It might take me a little while to get in the groove of checking this along with all the other rooms i check routinely. But i still havent gotten out hunting yet. Just havent had the time. Ive had friends text me and ask if i was ok since they havent heard from me for a while. Ive been that crazy busy with school. When im not doin homework, im either catchin up on sleep or at work. i cant wait until Thanksgiving break for some R&R and huntin the rut if i havent already tagged out by then.

Spent most of the day scouting on my lease at Honobia(1 hour away). Normally try not to scout this late in the season, but I just recently purchased a 4 wheeeler which allows me to hunt areas I haven't been able to access before.

Ended up seeing about 13 deer. No big bucks.

I did find 3 stand sights that I think should be pretty good. Actually found a few trees with acorns.

Also I pulled my game camera that I had out for about a month. Battery was dead so I brought it home. Ended up with 62 pics.....all does.

Oh well, at least I know where I need to be during the rut.:D:D

The frustration has set in already. Been out four times since last tuesday and have seen nothing. I think I have isolated the problems though. The problem with my problems is that I can't do anything about them. I hunt primarily on family land. Right behind my house there is about 300-400 acres and we have and apple orchard down the road that is about 40. My uncle owns the land behind the house, and lets pretty much anybody do whatever on it. I had a guy walk right past me at dusk Sunday evening. Then my cousins use the land like its there own private motorcross course day and night at least three times a week. My aunt lives beside our apple orchard down the road. They like to go on a stroll through the orchard every evening around sunset. I'm just praying for some cold weather to keep everyone inside. Sorry for the rant btw.

man thats no good. I had to deal with the same kind of problem with the neighbors kids right across the river. They would ride their horses up and downt he fence 40 yards from me, scream and yell playin down by the water, and their dogs would come across to my side of the fence and sit there and bark at me.

Well, I couldn't bring myself to work on opening day.:D Left the house around 5 o'clock. Climbed up in my stand at around 6:30. Got busted by a doe at 8:30. Climbed down from my stand at 11. Ate lunch and watched hunting videos with a friend and his son until around 1. Climbed back up in my stand at 2:00. Passed on a spike at 3:30. Climbed down at 4:30 due to lightening and barely made it out the gate before the storm hit. Pulled up to the house at 6:30.

Good day all in all. Saw over 10 deer on the roads in the evening. So I'm guessing they're moving more in the evenings.

Have to work tomorrow, but will be back at it on Saturday.

It's been frustrating this year so far in Connecticut....a ton of acorns on the ground, the deer don't have to move much for their food...looks like until we get a hard frost, and the rut hits that it will be pure luck to put one down...I'm still giving it my all, as much as I can around my work, and home schedule, still a lot of time, but it is frustrating.

Good luck Kirk!

I'm headed up to my hunting lease Saturday. Hoping to camp until Monday afternoon. If so, I really like my odds of harvesting at least a doe. Last weekend, there were seven hunters in camp and 4 harvested a deer. 3 does and a nice 8 point.
