Well, I have two black eyes now thanks to a MISS and hitting myself! I shot at this fella at 7:40 am this morning and hit a berry bush and my arrow went off into the river and floated away. Big boy ran up the hill looked at me all crazy and took off. I hope that he comes back!

The kids had a b'day party to go to yesterday, so i had another chance to bowhunt instead of taking them youth hunting. Wind out of the south and not good for most of my bowstands so I hunted a shoothouse and ended up popping an 80lb doe out the window, lol. She was broadside at 25 steps and never made it out of the field. Now I can set my sights on some horns for a while, and try to get the girls a buck (they still dont want to shoot another doe, lol). Still a ways till the rut gets in full swing here, and still a lot of acorns on the ground so they aint hitting the food plots hard yet.

Well guys I have hunted my tail off for the past 2 weeks and haven't seen jack..... Seen a few gbblers almost got a shot on one but it didn't happen..... I hunted yesterday morning and didn't see anything.... I was starting to loose any confidence that I had left....

I got ready to go hunt yesterday evening and headed out..... I put out some special golden estrous in 3 diff spots and got in the tree.... I did a few estrus bleats and some rattling.... I sat back down and I looked up and I had a buck coming across the creek straight to me..... I stood up and got my bow ready..... He steadily was walking to me..... The closer he got, the bigger he got.... He got to about 7 yds and I drew it back while I had my chance.... He took a few more steps and was about to smell of the scent wick..... I couldn't take it anymore, I touched it off and hit him a touch backn he was quartering to me a little bit..... I watched him tuck and run back to the creek and stand there for 30 seconds then cross it and run up a hill..... I then heard the buck bed down....

I got out if the tree and retrieved my arrow, it was covered with liver blood and guts.... I backed out and went and got my wife and sister in law.... We went back and looked him to find him dead where I heard him bed down across the creek.....

He's a main frame 10 point with a kicked...... He tipped the scales at 156 lbs.....

As we got him in the truck I grabed a shed that I had found on saturday..... It ended up being his shed from last year.....

Will get some pics up soon of an 8 pt I took on opening morning. Had a couple stickers, but just under an inch long. Decent 3.5 year old buck, 175lbs, 15.25 inside spread.

edit.... will put some pics up in the morning, the camera card won't go into the card reader on my printer at home and the cable is at work........

I will be going out with my bow again tomorrow after work if I can rush and then Friday morning & afternoon. I hope to at least get another buck but larger! They have not set date again but said first or second week of December. I understand now why they have cancelled on me twice now. I have to have a young childs bone so that it grows to mine and it is tough for parents to release the childs remains. I know it would be hard for me so I understand but you would think that the hospitals would have a better system. I am ready to get it done because it keeps getting worse as the time goes by! I will still try to hunt if I can! LOL Can not keep this hunter down!

Thanks both of you! I am going to try my luck Friday. It was raining really good today so I stayed in. I can not get sick before or if I ever get in for surgery. They have rescheduled me twice now so I am not holding my breath now. LOL Just means more hunting so does not hurt me either way just want to get it done though.

Yeah you sure dont want to get sick and run a fever when they call you in for surgery! You'll be back in the line again. I went yesterday and had 8 big does in the field, not a single buck. Rut is a couple of weeks away from getting into high gear down here. We still got two full months of season to go too. Going to cram as much food into my mouth today and then try to waddle to my private land spot and take the kids to see if any of my bucks are out and about. Sure would like to see that wide 8 walk out for one of the kids.
