Still nothing much to report. Hunted last night and as it started to get dark in the woods I headed for the field edge. Just as I got there antlers came out of the woods to the left of me. He fed his way into the bean field and I could tell he was a small 7 or 8 point. Then another came out, this one a spike. I nocked an arrow and got ready. I didn't want the small buck, but the Spike was a possible. I would have taken the shot, however he had more than 3" spikes, so I couldn't have tagged him antlerless, so he too was safe. Talk about thrilling though! They were only 18-20 yards out and boy was my heart racing! Would have been a nice shot, not sure if the beans would have affected my shot though.

We're on the board!!!

On my iPhone so here's the short sweet version. A mature 8 point still in velvet tried to slip past me at 20 yards Saturday afternoon. He didn't make it past me. Looks like a 5.5 year old buck. Pic's, etc. to come later when I get home Wednesday.

Congratulations Rhino! The NY season opens on the 17th so I still have a little while to wait.

Back home for a few days rest before hitting the woods again. I posted a couple of pics and a short story in the Bowhunting room when I passed by the house on my way to the taxidermist Monday. Then I hit the woods again. Saw mostly does & fawns along with a 2 year old 8 point Monday afternoon & Tuesday. Looks like we're going to get so cool air this weekend with lows close to 40. That will be a welcome relief.

I also posted the required pic and data in the contest submission thread for the team's score today.

I'll keep checking in and try to find an upgrade to the 8 point. That won't be easy here but I still have 2 bowhunts to make in the midwest in November.

Good luck everyone and remember...it can happen any time!;)

Hunted Friday through Sunday afternoon. Saw lots of does and young bucks but that was about it. Had a good doe without fawns in range while hunting yesterday but elected to pass. Too close to a nasty briar thicket bottom. The kind of stuff where you can loose friends.

Looks like we'll have some fall weather move in Friday so I'll take a break until then.

Shoot Straight Teammates!

Hunted my brother's place in Pike County. He's an outfitter there.

Sat in box blinds this weekend and was covered up with does and small bucks. All eating on wheat foodplots. Nothing down for the team just yet.

May get back out on Sunday. Too much going on!

Good luck all-

I did my part this weekend toward meeting our club's annual doe harvest goal. Smacked a doe at 15 yards Saturday morning. More sausage and jerky meat.:D

I'll regroup and organize my gear this week. Leaving before daylight Friday for the 1st leg of my midwest road trips. Heading to Knox County, IL to hunt private leased land with a friend of mine and 2 other guys that have the lease. I'll be hunting there for 7 days before I get a short rest break before the 2nd leg of my road trips. Hope the bucks are getting anxious when I hit the woods up there.

Man!! Sorry to hear that youngbuck. That had to make you sick! Hope you get a 2nd chance at him again.

Time for me to head out on the first leg of my bowhunting road trips. Leaving in about an hour for Knox Co., IL. I'm hunting through the 30th and should be home Halloween night. From what I'm hearing IL may be tough this year. Corn was planted later than usual due to wet conditions so it's going to be cut later than usual too.

Good luck teammates and shoot straight.

Just checking back in. Our muzzleloader season opens Nov. 7th and hopefully I'll get a few days in before rifle season opens the 14th. Things are looking good on my lease. Have seen several good bucks and lots of does so I'm looking for a good score for the team. Check back in in a few days. Good luck everyone!
