The bucks are starting to turn on here in IL but the weather sure isn't cooperating. My buddy saw a 150 class 10 point chasing a doe this morning. I've seen a lot of bucks so far but no shooters. The 1st afternoon I had a cool experience. 2 bucks at 45 yards put on a show. A 135 class 10 point & a 120 class 8 point started sparring & it turned into an all out fight. The 8 got the message when the 10 slid him backwards for about 5 yards. They disengaged & the 10 proceeded to tear up a tree. The 8 then decided he would too. Both bucks were still inside 50 yards. When the 10 saw the 8 rubbing he stopped and with ears laid back approached the 8 from behind. The 8 never saw the 10 coming until the 10's rack hit him in the neck full force. That sent the 8 running off. The 10 hung around for another 20 minutes tearing up the 8's tree & another one before he left.

Time for a nap before hitting the IL woods this afternoon.

Hunted last night with a buddy in Brown County. He outfits near Siloam Spings State Park.

Had 4 bucks inside 35 yards. 8 point yearling, 8 point 2 year old, 9 point 3 YO, and 9 point 4 YO. Great afternoon of hunting. Passed on all shots due to brush or shot angle. Ready to draw on the 130" 3 year old (25 yards quartering to)when the doe with him stomped and walked off. He whirled and walked off with no good shot.

There are 4 others in camp. Two saw 150 class bucks that day.

Bucks were working scrapes and were hopeful.

May go to Pike tonight and my brother's place there. His two hunters last week killed or missed good bucks.\\

Good luck all-

My brother Mike outfits in Pike. He has a guy(Jeff) in from MI this week. Jeff started his hunt yesterday afternoon and stuck a good buck shortly after climbing in his stand. No word yet as to how big the buck is.

I hunted along a creek last night in Pike and saw nothing. Just wasn't where the deer were last night.

Bob has 4 guys in from PA this week. They have seen several 150 bucks. No word yet as to Sunday's successes there.

I'm going back to Brown on Saturday and may sit the same stand. WHo knows, maybe they will accommodate me this time.

Good luck all-

Haven't updated you all for some time, but there hasn't been much to update really. Keep seeing a few but nothing that I want to put an arrow in. Still haven't seen any nice bucks, and actually there's been hardly any checked in, so they're bound to be somewhere. Got a little spot that I haven't hunted yet and I plan to get out to it soon and check it out.

Well as luck would have it, we've worked 2 days a week for 6 months and 3 weeks before deer season we started 40 hr weeks. Not complaining I need the work but couldn't it have waited a few more weeks. Anyways, I'm going Saturday the 14 on opening day and hopefully I'll have a little luck. I'll check back in Sunday.

Been in Iowa filming my buddy's hunt. Got home yesterday afternoon. He didn't fill his tag. Saw some nice ones.

I'm heading to camp this afternoon to get a few things done this weekend before I take off to Kansas. I may hunt Saturday afternoon. Trying to save some energy for 7 days in Kansas. I'm heading that way Monday.

Back from spending 7 1/2 days bowhunting in Kansas. I had a swing and a miss on a 10 point. A big main frame 8 with kickers off both G2's. Oh well...that's bowhunting. Great hunt though!

I'm going to relax for a week or so and do a little socializing with my hunting buddies at our camp. I'll hit the woods some but I'm going to take it easy and save some energy for our rut. The prerut here doesn't crank up until about the 2nd week of December. Until then I'm going to re-energize my batteries.

Congrats on the 5 pt. flyrod and congrats on your doe too ny_gun.

Well the NY shotgun season ended yesterday. Unfortunately I was not able to upgrade from the doe I shot during the archery season.

I ended up taking 3 antlerless deer during the shotgun season. I say antlerless as the one I took yesterday turned out not to be a really big doe but a buck that had already shed his antlers.

The late archery season / muzzleloader season opened this morning and runs for 9 day. Wish me luck in filling my buck tag and getting us some more points.
