I hear ya Jeramie, the deer sure were moving.

I went and set up my blind this evening, then about two hours later I decide to stroll down the hill to see if I can glass anything over there and there were three bucks, one old seven and two younger ones. They were hammering down on the corn, the food plot and the trophy rock and did not pay one bit of attention to my blind. IM STOKED and ready for season!

Leaving within an hour heading to Wyoming. Hope to have a nice buck for us by the end of the week.

I have a blog going that I am going to try to keep updated throughout the week, if possible.

The only drawback is it looks like Jake is coming down with a cold and getting sick. He is going to just have to suck it up and tough it out though, cause we are going hunting.

It was COLD this morning. Im sure the deer were doing cart wheels through the woods!

The season opens this Thursday and we have BAD, BAD storms that will be moving in. I think thats a good thing. I cant get out until Friday. The storms will hopefully keep the deer holed up.

If it works out like I think it will, they will really be moving on Friday!

Today was our second Saturday. I've only been able to be in the woods in the morning on both dates. Just a few does both times and today I also got a visit from some goofball hunting from neighboring property who came tip-toeing through the woods with bow in hand around 9:30a.

He must be a sloppy hunter too because all morning I could hear deer winding him and blowing from the direction I eventually saw him come. Plus he didn't stay on stand very long. Probably got bored and started walking around. Which messed everything up for me. Hope to have some better luck soon. Best of luck!

full moon was setting as the sun was rising Sautrday morning and the deer were moving Saturday morning, saw about 30. Had them within 15 yards but couldnt get a shot. I didnt see any moving in the evening, figured I would before the rain started. Im guessing that full moon just had them moving in the am for some reason. They moved till about 10:30 am then nada. Had a young seven come in to me within 10 yds last night, then he got spooked by a bobcat that passed me within 5 feet. yes FEET. So all in all a pretty exciting last couple of days. Hope to lay one down soon. Good luck everyone.

I saw 11 on Friday morning last week. I didnt have a shot on any of them. I went out again on Sunday but didnt see a single deer. It was windy in my neck of the woods.

Im going out Friday afternoon and again probably Sunday morning. Its suppose to be in the 30's sunday morning! Hopefully that will pay off!

Howdy guys. It has been awhile since my last post as I have been busy at work and hunting when not at work. I got lucky this morning and managed to take a medium sized 4x4 (8 point to you folks from the east) whitetail. The buck have really been running the past couple of days and I almost had one the other night with my car on the way home from work. This morning the little bit of snow cover we have was crusted and noisy making for a tough time moving and not alerting everything within hundreds of yards. After hiking to an old clear-cut in the dark and watching the morning come to life, I started still hunting along the ridge and after about a half mile I heard this buck grunting in the distance. First a doe came trotting along and about 100 yards behind her came the buck. He went less than 30 yards after the shot and, after dressing him out, I made the 2+ mile hike back to the truck and retrieved my game cart. It is amazing how much easier it is getting a buck several miles back to the truck with the game cart as even crossing over fallen trees is much easier than dragging/carrying. Maybe I would not have a bad back if I had used back savers like that years ago. There is a picture up in the entry thread so we have a few more points. If you are still out there hunting, keep at it, and good luck.
