Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Congrats on your first bow kill. Just like I figured, I haven't been able to get out much. I did however make time to head out to the range and shoot my muzzleloader and rifle a bit. Was a good time. Both are hitting perfect. I am ready for November to get here. pointing_dogs_rule
Hi Guys!! I will put away the bow for the next week. Muzzleloader season starts on Saturday and runs until next Sunday (9 days). Will hunt weekends and evenings. pointing_dogs_rule
Blake's 1st deer. Had some success last night (but not me). I went out with a young kid and this deer came by and Blake downed him at 60 yards. 10 point... full story http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91860eer Still too early in the season for me to consider this type of . Lots of corn in around this part of Iowa. The hunting could be really rough this year. I am sure the big boys are bedded in the corn. Blake me and Blake Good luck to all the dog
buckee
That's a nice buck dog. Awesome!! Yeah, when that corn comes down, you'll have a way better idea of what's there for sure. Good huntin.

bulldawg
The doe only season went by with no deer shot in our group. I saw a 4 pointer, and had a 12 pointer trot by me at about 13 feet. On one stand where I could have scored, my goofy brother-in-law came out to the edge before continuing on with the drive, and waved over at me as if I was to move towards the parking area. I did, and 2 adult does ran by, within about 5 yards of where I had been standing. I just about choked him out after that. No earn a buck up there this year, so not many hunters out in the woods. pointing_dogs_rule
Nice buck, especially for a first, congrats to Blake! Dog your standards are above mine. I am fortunate enough to live in a big buck area. I would rather eat a nice doe then a buck anyday (especially during the rut and pre-rut). With that stated: I have not taken a big one in the last five years. Hopefully this will be the year. good luck to all the dog

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
So how's everyone doing? Three weeks from today I'll be in the upper peninsula for Deer Camp. Opening day of firearms season is on the 15th of November, but I plan on getting a few days of bowhunting in first. Still haven't found time to get out with the bow around here. This English class is killing me, just turned in a 5 page Rhetorical Analysis essay. Good thing is that I only have two more weeks left for these classes and then I am free until January. :D

pointing_dogs_rule
One more night left for blackpowder. I got out of my stand this morning without seeing anything. As I neared the house a buck jumped out at 50 yards and stood behind some brush. I could tell it was a buck, however, I could not tell the rack size. I decided not to shoot and wait for him to hopefully take a few more steps so that I could size him up. Well, he knew something was up and trotted away so that I did not have a goos shot. He was a very nice 10 point that would have went on the wall. Still believe I did the right thing by not shooting, not knowing his rack size. Good luck to all the dog
