Congrats on the doe!

Dog funny you should say that, my uncle saw a monster right behind me but in a gully I couldn't see into but could hear him. Then the landowner saw 2 good bucks in front of me but was behind a line of brush I couldn't see through, but could hear them grunting. :bang: Hurt my feelings.

I'm still itchin to get back out and pull the trigger on something again. :D Just talked to my Uncle, got the OK to come out and hunt and help them take out a doe or two, he is going to give me a shout maybe tomorrow and hopefully I'll be out there this weekend. I know he said they have some bigbucks running around out there, and they only want 8's or better taken, but unless he gives me the green light to shoot a buck (which he probably will) I am probably going to just try for a doe.

i might need a small kick in the can as i left a buck that would be pushing 200 inches give or take a couple inches, i just didn't have the perfect shot, and didn't want to cripple him. I think i know where he is living in a cedar thicket within 150 yards of my deer stand

No kick from me bud. You did the right thing.

The season ain't over yet...eh :D;)

No kick from me either. If you didn't have a good shot, you didn't have a good shot. No point in injuring a deer with a low percentage shot, no matter what size it is. Keep after him, good luck!!

As for me, I have yet to get out again. I will be heading out to my uncles place, hopefully soon. They haven't had much movement over there, but last week was kind of warm for this time of year. That, along with there still being a good amount of corn still up is keeping these deer hiding in it. It should be down soon, if not already (been a few days since I talked to him). They have a bunch of stands and have seen a bunch of nice deer. My main goal going out there is going to be to just help with the doe numbers, but we agreed that if a really nice buck comes along and gives me a shot, I am taking it. GUn season is still going on, it ends Monday, but I am hoping to FINALLY take something with my bow!

Way to go KentuckyTurkey :toot:

I nailed a nice buck tonight, just before last shooting light, but I backed off, because I didn't see where I hit it.

I could barely see my pins, and he was standing in the shadows between two large fur trees. He was chasing a young sweetheart.

I had a little spiker standing about 12 ft from me watching him, as I drew my bow, and he stopped behind one of the big furs. I held for what seemed like forever and was about to let down, when he stepped between the two trees. I had to find my site pins in my peep, and then open both eyes to see the deer too. Right at last shooting light.

He ran down into a gully and up the other side, and then stood there for what seemed like 5 minutes or so. I kept praying, go down, go down, and then he ever so slowly walked into the shadows of the fence row. I hope that's where I find him in the morning. He's a nice mature 2x2 blacktail. I hope he's close to where I last saw him.
