iabow
Had a pretty cool night. Seen 3 little bucks (4,7,8) sparring and rubbing. I layed a scent trail of vanilla before I got in stand and those bucks couldn't get enough. Stayed around about 45 mins sniffing and eating all the green it touched. It was pretty neat just to watch. buckee
I'm still getting out every now and then. I've had lots of opportunities, but just not the right deer yet. Starting to see a few bigger bucks now though.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I made it out opening day. Sat from around 2 until dark, didn't see a darn thing. No wait, I did see 3 other hunters, and a guy walking his dog. Ahhh the joy of hunting public land.

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Way to go Steve. I agree with the others, that's one heck of a body on that deer. Congrats
pointing_dogs_rule
Had this guy come in tonight and bed down for 56 minutes, 12 yards from my tree. Just not what I'm looking for. good luck to all the dog
buckee
Nice looking deer, congrats Buckee! What do you guess he weighs? I've never weighed one just field dressed, but at the meat cutter's with the hide, legs and head off, and trimmed up a bit, a good buck will go 100 lbs or more. He's a nice mature blacktail, but although he is built solid, they don't compare in size to your whitetails. I've seen 4 bigger than this guy and 3 of them have swollen necks already. I do have another tag .. :) That is a nice buck Dog. If you passed on him, I can't wait to see the one you're going to get.

iabow
PointingDogs that's cool, you know your scent control is working. Have you seen any bucks chasing yet? Seen a 8 working a doe a little last night, awful early for that. Also I talked to my aunt in WY, she was telling me they found a track of a cougar that was over 6" wide. The ranger took pictures and made a cast of it. He told them the cats are starting to run in packs like dogs . She also found a big bear track, be careful if you head out that way. NJB hang in there Buckee looks like alot of good eating.
bulldawg
Congrats to Dodgeman and Buckee on thier deer. Good job guys. I finally got moved in, but now comes the organizing it all! I'm not even going to buy my bow tag this year. The doe only T-zone hunt starts on this coming Thursday for 4 days. I'm heading north for that hunt, so hopefully with this cooler weather moving in, the deer will move. I just got my DSL hooked up, so it should be a little easier for me to get in here a little more now. The Netzero dial-up was getting so chock full of advertisements, that it took forever to get online anymore. Well, good luck folks.:bat:
pointing_dogs_rule
That is a nice buck Dog. If you passed on him, I can't wait to see the one you're going to get. Buckee: I may not get a bigger deer than that one, however, if I shot a deer that young and with that much potential I would not be able to sleep. I'd rather take a doe anyday then harvest that buck. Hope that his dad comes by someday. good luck to all the dog
