New stand placement- tough set up!!

Hung a new stand yesterday and had a heck of a time getting the 20ft ladder stick in the tree I wanted it in! After putting it up and taking it down I finally got it up the tree and set the stand in what I think will be an awesome spot!! I have been meaning to set a stand in this spot since early last season but already had hung all of the stands I had, and in this area once season hits I dont wander around too much cause there is not alot of timber. I am right at the end of a thick fence row that meets the largest part of timber on the property, and behind me there is a creek with running water and another fence row meets at a point between the timber and two cornfields. I have another stand close by facing a bean field but its not as high as I would like it. Before season I have one more stand to set about 500 yds from this one!! Hopefully that one will cooperate a little better!!

Anybody else ready for season? :):flex:

I use a climber as well alot when Im not hunting this property. There is not one climbable tree(unless you want to hunt from 10ft) but I was in a climber last year at a different location when I seen a giant after shooting hours!!! he was at 15 yards and all I could do was admire the giant he was!! :cool2:

That is all I have is timber not even 25 yards wide. It is on the edge of a river between two big acre timbers. I love the funnel areas and I would not want to go into a big timber. I rather have it because they have to go to that spot to go to the other timber unless they go out in the field. Nice set up and good luck! I am ready but will be held up a little at the start possibly with knee surgery this friday! I should be ready. I told doc that we had to do it now so that it did not mess my season up for hunting! He laughed at me! LOL

Thanks guys. I have mixed feelings about big timber versus fingers and travel coridors. My favorite spot is a set of small bunches of timber in fields and getting between the big timber and the fields. It can be a little harder to pinpoint the travel areas but sometimes its better be lucky than smart!! Good luck to all this season. Atleast in Illinois I think its going to be a stellar year, but I have thought that in the past as well so Im not going to get over confident.
