SonnyThomas
targets? Define target. Bag, 3D? Maybe a good bet for 3D would be at a 3D club. Might be shot up some, but good enough for practice. I haven't any luck with bag targets except for the 3rd Hand bag packed with shrink wrap plastic (from local heavy equipment maker) - start to shoot fletch deep, relocate the plastic and shoot another year or two. I have one that's old enough to vote and our club has 14 that's been on the range for 4 years. If you want a store type bag target buy a super quality one. I bought a Morrel bag target and shot through it the very first day.

Beagleman78
I needed one too, but read this artical in the Link http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=892196 I am now convinced to make my own, they are easy to build "Cheap" and from talking to some other Buddys who have made them and still use the same target other than Re-stuffing it every couple of years. This is the way to go. Store bought ones are Nice, "But Price, and and the length of actual time shot, Does not out weigh the Home made targets... On the store bought targets, after say two hundred shots or more, your going to end up tossing in the garbadge dump. Read all the threads in this artical... From now on Im making mine. One of my friends has now shot his next month will be 8 years... Good Luck and God bless ! Beagleman78 PS. Im making mine 36X36X10" thick. and for the framing im useing 1X10 for the weight ( Lighter) Stuffing is old carpet remnents, I have another buddy who installs carpet and saves all the left over's Just for making Targets... If your targets don't last longer than that then you have problems. I have a morrel I bought and have been shooting at for 3 years now I'd say and its holding up great. Shoot it daily as well. Inless your shooting broadheads in them I don't see how they won't hold up longer than that.

No Sir, I dont have a problem any longer, Build my own now ! they last longer, and at a fraction of the cost .. It is broadheads thats tearing them up sooner on some ! & Field tips on some Which Morrel target have you shot 3 years ? Are you not burrying the vanes yet ? It almost has to be shot out after 3 years if your sticking the same area. I have never had a morrel last me more then 400 plus shots before the vanes get or worse the nok gets burried. Have you had to refill or replace the guts of your target. Im not knocking Morrel or any other target for that matter also there some I wouldnt spit on ... But in my personal view I have never had one for me to last . Edited September 6, 2009 by Beagleman78

Inless your shooting crazy fast I think you nuts and I don't shoot slow.
The_Kat
I have an academy target that lasted two years. I just got the Crush target and it's super nice. Easily portable and stands on it's own. Was 69.99 though. For broadheads there is none other than the yellowjacket in my opinion!!!
hutchies
Yellowjacket maybe good but try the Rhinehart 18-1 and you will slap yourself for even not buying one sooner.

Tony
easy there guys, lets all remember that some of us are very passionate about our equipment we use. we must value eqach others opinions. i have a bag target that has lasted me over 5 years. it has 9 aiming dots and is a Delta Deadstop pro. the only thing i have had to replace on it was the cover. the main reason so many targets get shot out so fast, is that people like to aim at the middle all the time. spread youyr shots out over the whole face of the target and you will extend its life a lot longer. for a broadhead target i have used tem all. problem is that mainy just dont hold up to being pounded for a month of solid broadhead shooting. so most of us either by a cheapy to use for just 1 year or buy something you can replace the cores with. i went with a delta pro series 3D antelope target. yea it was a little expensive at the start, but i will be able to shoot broadheads into it for at least 3 years before i will have to replace the core and they are just 60 bucks. i hammered that target for 2 months solid with 50% of the shots using broadheads and if i flip it over to the other side im betting it will last a long time. you can either buy something cheap to get you by each year or build a target, or buy something that will last for a long time. i built a stand system for my bag target out of 3/4 inch conduit. by using T's and Elbows, all you have to do is drill 2 holes and put j hooks in them to hold up the target. it breaks down and goews together very easily. plus because it swings, it helps to absorb the energy of your arrows and doesnt allow them to penetrate as deep. this im convinced saves on bag wear. i will shoot some pics tomorrow showing it and give anyone thats wants the instructions on how to build it.
