OUTSIDER
I am from West BY GOD, where were you fishing??? I fish the Elk, Williams, Buckhannon, Cherry, and Shavers a lot, along with a bunch of native streams. Looks like a good trip any ways, time spent in the mountains is good time spent. arrow32
Have you ever fished elk river? No. I had thought about it this year but didn't. I plan to fish it next spring tho.
danthehuntinman
There is a great c&r there if you like fly fishing a lot. Its probably my favorite river to fish. I fish the put and take part of it a lot of fish in that river and some big ones too. They have some really big browns in the c&r. Caught the most trout in one day on that river I caught a little over 100 in about 4 to 5 hrs. A great river to fish.
arrow32
I've saw pictures of some of the monsters that came out of that river. 100?!! Dang thats awesome. I'm hoping to give it a shot. I've done alot of reading on it tho from different places and they say you really have to use some small flies. You fly fish? You ever been on WVangler? danthehuntinman
No I don't fly fish the only thing I use are trout magnets. I get on wvangler sometimes to look at the fish everyone catches. Its a pretty cool website to look at. Maybe this year we can catch eachother on elk and fish together or something? arrow32
That sounds good to me. Always up for meeting people from the forums. I just started fly fishing there a couple years ago I've not mastered it yet but am working on it. This year I didn't touch a spin rod at all I've comitted myself to fly fishing only. Its a blast I love it. I've never had much luck on trout magnets. Shoot tho I know people who slay em on them things.
danthehuntinman
Yeah I'm sure we can do some fishing somewhere at least always fun fishing with new people. It took me a while to learn how to use the trout magnets but once I did its a lot of fun. Usually alot of people get mad fishing around me. We will have to get a weekend and get together somewhere and do some fishing keep in touch.

arrow32
Sounds good to me. I'd like to hook one of them bad boys on a fly rod. My dad says the steelhead are awesome on a fly rod and I would think the brood would be to. Some time we should hit the Gauley down below the damn I love fishing that river. Alot of big fish. They put brood in there threw the summer as well.
danthehuntinman
Yeah they do put some big fish in there I have never fished it before. I have heard a lot about it here lately. I know the whitewater rafters put big ones in twice in the summer too. We will fish somewhere I know that always trying to find someone to fish with me. arrow32
You found someone:D Dad works shift work and sometimes its hard for us to get to go together and all my buddies ain't to much into it they won't fish hard all day if they ain't catching fish they just want to quit and go home or back to camp. I love fishing it. One time me and dad went down there after fishing the cranberry for 3 or 4 days not having any luck on the fly rod went down there and I caught 8 in an hour. There is rocks as big as houses down in there. Not a place you'd want to go alone its very steep and dangerous. Deep to. Alot of good fishing tho. danthehuntinman
I'm not to bad at trout fishing usually if the fish are biting on the streams I'm use to fishing I'll catch atleast 30 a day. Last year I took a 3 days and fished shavers and caught 180 some so that wasnt bad for 3 days I didn't think.
