Passed on a little 6 piont broadside at 20 yards this mourning. There was a bigger buck behind him but after my trail cameras flash spooked the 6 point they both left in a hurry. After that I took the camera down.Went to a different stand this evening and at 7:00 shot a doe.I hit the shoulder blade.More forward than I wanted.I saw her running on 3 legs.We couldn't find my arrow or blood after 2 hours of looking:angry:.I am going out first thing in the mourning to look for her.It is going to storm here tonight.I hope that don't mess me up finding blood.Needles to say I am sick to my stomach not being able to find her.I don't think I will sleep very good tonight.Hope for the best in the mourning.

After a long and sleepless night I went out this mourning and found my arrow stuck in the botton of a tree.No blood or hair on the arrow.I don't know why she was running on 3 legs, but it was not because she was hit.Just to make sure I still looked on the trail she was on and found nothing.I aimed for 25 yards and steped it off today at 32 yards.I shot under her.Not happy that I missed but very happy that I didn't wound that deer.We didn't find the arrow last night because I marked the wrong tree.{things look different on the ground} I climbed up in my stand and I instantly knew I marked the wrong tree.I think I am going to get a tennis ball and tape some reflective ribbon to it,so I can throw the ball and mark my spot.

Too bad about the miss Jesse, it happens, better a miss than a lost deer though.

Things here were looking a bit better Sunday morning. Had a couple does walk under me. Got some pretty decent video footage. Things should continue to get better here, next weekend hopefully temps will be cooler and the bucks will move around a bit more.

Posted a little more detail on this weekend along with the video clip in my blog here http://www.realtree.com/forums/blog.php?bt=788.

Yesterday was my first day in the stand and I made a big mistake. I had a big 8 walk 10 yds from me down the trail and I let him walk. I hesitated b/c I wasn't sure how big he was, but after he got by me and I got a better look at him, I should have shot. He wasn't very wide, but was tall and had good mass, with about 10 in G2's. I'm sick about it now, but it was only the first day in the stand. Hopefully he shows himself again this season.

We are on the scoreboard!Considering the amount of time I can deer hunt and the 40 acre woods I hunt, also has 4 other people that hunt it.I opted to shoot a small frame 6 piont a little after 7:00p.m tonight.Couldn't pass the shot up 13 yards slightly quartering away, with his leg forward.Picture perfect. He ran about 80 yards and crashed.I still got 2 Arkansas hunting trips to get a bigger rack.I'll submit a photo and tag photo in the mourning.

Congratulations Jesse.

Saturday morning had a 5 point with good potential in range as well as another doe. Not what I am after. Had two does in range Saturday afternoon, posted more about that in my blog. Did shoot some video, maybe can get some loaded soon. Had some things to take care of Sunday.

Congrats Jesse, he looks like a big deer:)

I wont be able to get out until next weekend. We have fall break so I dont have classes for a few days so I will be in the woods as much as possible. My brother has found a few scrapes already and has a camera set up over one and a lot of daytime pics on all our cams so it seems like the deer are moving a bit.

I had a great weekend hunting, probably one of the best as far as seeing deer. Saturday evening I had 8 does come by and 6 of them in shooting range. I missed one of them at about 15 yds. Shot right over her back. Sunday morning I was in the stand when 4 bucks come busting in the woods. 3 of them were small and the fourth was a decent 8 point, but to small to shoot this early in the season. While watching them I heard walking coming up the ridge from behind me. Another nice 8 point walked up the ridge from behind me and stood even with my stand for a good five mins. He was nice, but I couldn't convince myself to shoot him this early. Then I look two ridges over about 80 to 100 yds from me and there are about 20 deer going up the ridge. All does and small bucks. After the nice 8pt makes his way by the stand a doe is following him. She stepped into the opening 10 yds away and I smoked her. She ran about 40 yds and piled up. While standing at the truck another 7 does ran out across the field about 70 yds from me. Yesterday evening I had 3 small bucks come out. I'll post pics later, because I'm heading back out to the stand this evening. The deer have been on there feet in Southern IL.
