hutchies
I did the coolest thing today. Guy I met recently in the last few months has been telling me to come check out his deer farm..........I can't even begin to tell you how blown away I was. I was hand feeding 150 inch whitetails. He has a typical that scores 230 and he said on the hoof weighs 330. Got to botttle feed the fawns and check out native and northern species of whitetails. YOU GUYS UP NORTH.........wonder why our deer are so small. Genetics my friends. We put a 160 native oklahoma deer side by side a northern buck and the northern was a full foot taller and longer. I got to bottle feed fawns. Fed one of them 2 bottles that she sucked down in 30 seconds and thought my ear was her next dinner. Funny when you got a fawn licking you in the face like a dog. Saw probably 15 bucks over P&Y mark. 1.5 year olds that were 8 and 10 points already scoring 115............... Simply I was amazed. I learned alot today about behaviors of deer that you simply don't see in the wild. I'm taking my kids next weekend to play with the doe fawns and bottle feed them. sluggunner
Like a kid in a candy shop. I bet you were just in heven there. I wish I could do that for a living, (own a deer farm.) But it is just too expensive to get into due to the cost of all of the land, fencing and start up stock. Plus it is sooooo heavily regulated here in Wisconsin that the DNR is driving many if not most of them out of business. At least that is what I have had two deer farm owners tell me. redkneck
Sounds like a great day to plan with the kids. Wish I had one around here, but dont know of one. I bet he gets a fine price for those over 200 inches.

Tom2008
Sounds like a lot of fun. We have a local deer farmer too and he invited Kels and I down. We'll probably go see his deer soon. He distributes deer pee to the pro shop and other sporting goods stores around the area.

Do that all the time around here...then my Wife goes and messes it all up when she elbows me in the ribs and tells me to "Wake Up...Your Having that BBD Dream again"! I tell her.."Yeah I Know...What'ya wake me up for"!!!!!!!!!! Seeing something like that in the wild would be like getting a picture of Sasquatch riding the Loch Ness Monster!:clown:
Adjam5
Wow, I guess we all could learn a little something from a deer farm. That buck is a BEAST! When you said 330" shed, you mean half of that was on the bucks head...right?

woolybear
That is very cool Hutch. Got a couple of them farms around here I've been wanting to get to one of these days. Got another not too far from me that has Bison and Elk. I think they are both as hands on as the one you describe. Sounds like a great way to spend the day to me.
