Shrek3
Hello everyone just wanted to ask a question. I'm looking at making my first deer lick/block. Need some help with it? Does anyone have a good old fashion recipe that you use and might want to share? Also, hope that you have a great holiday weekend.:clap:Thanks for your time and help. wtnhunt
Plain trace mineral blocks work. Has been a recipe posted here many times if you want to go with loose minerals. Here is a good thread to check out http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8653.
dogdoc
I just use the red trace mineral block also. I dig a small hole and bury half of it so it dissolves in the soil quick. Can't beat the price and it works!
MichiganHunter
I've made ONE and just havent made another one, It wasn't really a block but it seamed to work, I used plain non-chlorinated water pellets and dumped them into a bucket, a bit at a time, used the end of an old base ball bat and smashed them into smaller (I say smaller cause it was hard) chuncks and then put that into a different bucket and repeated the process till it was about half full (5 gallon bucket) than added 1 jar? (it was a small container) of corn syrup and than some black strap molasses and a hand full of corn, I used a stick and mixed it up well, I put it on a black topped drive way and let sit in full direct hot sun for about 3 day's it came out ok, they ate it. Now I buy more deer Cane, it works well and is easyer, but now that you brought it up I kind of want to make one again. Looking back I think that maybe putting it in a small metal bucket and baking it in the oven could work well. joeaveragehunter
I also use red trace mineral... 50 pounds for $6... can't go wrong. But it seems like a challenge I might like to try.
