Squirrelhunter91
I'd shoot him now! LOL but if your goal is to take mature bucks and mature bucks only, he looks to be 3.5 now so in 2 years at 5.5 if he makes it, he'll be more than ripe. Tom2008
He is a great looking 2 1/2 year old. Good luck keeping tabs with till 2011 season.
AceArcher
He is running with a 4 1/2 year old 8 pt that probably goes 150 net. I want a pic of him b/c he is a real dandy. Saw him in the bean field week ago Sunday...he was out there with this one and a six for over an hour at dusk. Hopefully I get a pic of the bigger deer before season opens here on Oct. 1. Turkeygirl
Beautiful deer! He'll be a monster in 2 years, but he's one right now, I'd have no problem arrowing him!

Muleyman
That is a really nice deer. I would probably take him this year, but it would pay off to wait. Good luck in 2011.
redkneck
2011!!!!! Dude, you sound like the a politician plotting strategy! I don't look that far ahead. You got a nice deer there, I'd have to take the shot with a bow, might pass on the gun too, but still I can't see that far into the future! camoman1
Nice buck and will be in a couple of years. If he walks by the right person he will get dropped LOL and I am that right person!! Nice lookin deer!
AceArcher
This is a 2.5 year old buck. That is why he has so little mass. Next year he will be hard to pass up. But the real pay off will be in 2 years. However, if he gets out of my honeyhole too much someone will pop him during gun season or with bow...I guarunttee it. Most deer in my area don't make it past this phase. However, a few that are taught once are twice learn how to be survivors and keep away from hunters. But I don't blame anyone for taking him...he would make a good wallmount if you would have him. wtnhunt
Hope you can keep tabs on him until next year Ace, then check his teeth and see exactly how old he is. He will be a very nice buck next year, cool you have somewhere to hunt that you feel confident that a deer will make it to the next season. If I were guessing from those pics I would guess that deer is a 3.5 year old by looking at the body.
NY_Bowhunter14
Great bucks, but if i would be throwing an arrow in is direction if he came by me, without hesitation!

I'd say the absolute minimum is 3.5 and I would guess 4.5 years old. Look at his saggy belly and his forehead. I've never seen a 2.5 year old buck with the raise between the horns like that buck has. That's my personal judge for a 3.5 year old. Just because he doesn't have mass doesn't mean he isn't older. he body tells a different story to me. AceArcher
I am not positive he will make it. My brother will shoot him and so will the neihbor kid. I wouldn't mind it if either of them took him b/c he will net P&Y. I don't like his lack of mass and think that next year he will be around. I think he is 2.5 but maybe I am wrong...he is pretty wide but those spindly antlers are a give away and his body looks alot differnt than the big eight that I mentioned he was running with. There is the big 8 and a 14 point that no one killed last year...plus likely of couple good deer that no one has seen. Don't have any pics of them but they are around. Hopefully I will hook up with one of them and this guy will live another year.

Antlers should not be considered when aging a deer. Look at the body. If your brother kills the deer, have him get the teeth checked.
