Dakota
Thanks all! I'll finish up the buck story after this but this one is a long story filled with ups and downs. Right away at shooting light we (Steve and I) were pulling into the doe pasture (a pasture Steve named due to the fact there are 40-50 does and only one buck ) and took a chance at a group of does bedded about 30-40 yards off the gravel. I ranged the closest one at 29, put my 30 yard right on her and of course...I missed...:D:D I nocked another arrow and ranged her again at 43 yards. The doe moved at the last second and that, coupled with the wind, caused the arrow to hit the doe next to her. The shot was a good ways back but she was bleeding hard and had a severe limp. We watched her stand in the field and Steve and I decided to just back off and let her lay down and die. She was definitely hurting. We came back after checking out some other areas and she had disappeared! We looked and glassed and couldn't find her and she had lost a lot of blood to boot (there was a big puddle of blood where she had been standing when we last saw her)! We still don't know what happened to her. I know she's either hurting real bad or laying dead somewhere right now; my entire arrow was soaked in blood. Well, after looking without success we passed by a sandy bottom rock quarry (sp?) and spotted two does bedded in the bottom seeking shelter from the wind (which is really odd for antelope ). We decided to do a spot and stalk and drove around to the other side of the quarry (again sp? ). We parked and I nocked an arrow, this one with a Muzzy MX-3 instead of a Rage 2, and we began to make our way down into the quarry. We ended up popping up about 25 feet above and behind them. I ranged the closest doe at 29 yards and let the Muzzy do it's work. It was a little far back but the doe was smoked! Blatt! Blatt! Blatt! Blatt! She made a big semi-circle around the sandy quarry bottom and ran up the dirt ramp to the gravel road. Steve and I went down and checked the sign: blood droplets everywhere! Half way up the ramp we found the arrow and it was soaked in blood and coated in sand. It wasn't hard to find her once we reached the gravel road, she'd collapsed in the field on the other side! Steve went to get the truck and I walked towards my doe (my second big game bow kill ). She attempted to get up and I put a Rage 2 in her chest for good measure. She was out a minute later. I'm tagged out folks! Will post pics ASAP. Dakota

Dakota
Yeah for Dakota and Seth!!! You guys are doing a great job and am anxious to hear ALL about it!! Now Jana and Bruce need to fill their tags!! If you want Bob to mount the Buck send it back with Jana and the guys? I don't have a cape for him, we just cut the head off because I was thinking about having Jana paint the skull. But spare capes aren't all that hard to get. The buck is at the processor and I'm quartering and bagging the doe. Bruce just stuck a great one but they still need to seal the deal, sounds like they're attempting a second spot and stalk here in the next few minutes. We just got back from Seth and Bruce's blind and the buck is hit hard. We tried to come from above and put another one in him but he spotted us and ran. I ranged him at 46.5 yards and Seth and Jana got some good footage but we just weren't able to finish it yet. Jana had some good action this morning and had a couple bucks come in to water but she ended up sending one sailing under it's belly. Not sure what the yardage was, maybe 45 yards. So far everyone has had shots! We're planning on setting up Steve's Hoyt ProTec for him so that one of these days we can guide him to a good buck antelope. Dakota Edited September 9, 2009 by Dakota
