Be sure and click on the description for more info on the upper left hand side of the screen as it gives the whole story.
OJR
Yep, they are all around us out here! Supposedly there is a pack about 1/2 mile from my house! In one way I hope there is because they will take care of the CATS around here!
Texan_Til_I_Die
And some people, mostly those who don't hunt, want to reintroduce wolves and other apex predators like grizzlies, into areas with significant human and livestock populations. coles
after watching that video i cant say how i really feel on the family site. Absolutely ridiculous. I say we put the wolf lovers out there in the same position that those two guys were in and see how much they like the wolves after that. Adjam5
Scary encounter and sounds that are way too close for just a recurve. OO buck and a Benelli is in order. But is it enough if eight 100lb dogs were attacking? With a plan? Thanks for sharing that.
hoosierhunter
I believe the wolves have a place in the wild, but they need to be controlled. I'm one that if I lived out west and had a nasty encounter I would have no issue with killing one regardless of the laws.... I disagree that was a "wolf attack" even the guys in the video say the closest one got was 20 yards and then the article says they charged. I'm willing to bet the video is true, but there was no charge and no arrow shot. They would have said that on camera if it happened.... I've never heard a wolf, but I can relate to the blood-curdling sound of a pack of coyotes when they're getting up close to you and there's no doubt they know you're there from the noise and the camp fire. backwoods07
Those guys were pretty calm about the whole thing. I'm surprised, given that eerie howling.
stevebeilgard
a wolf attack isn't a true attack, until the wolves suddenly charge. then it's too late. fact is, wolves surround their victim and watch it for the correct moment, then attack. the fact that these guys had wolves that waaaay too close, and they were intended victims. the fact that they were not charged by the pack doesn't mean it wasn't an organized attack. game populations in and around yellowstone is currently down 60% since the introduction of wolves. ranchers in the surrounding valleys are losing cattle and sheep by the hundreds, killing their livelyhoods. state game and fish laws are overridden by federal laws that pay no attention to the needs of the individual state wildlife biologists. admit it or not, the feds are killing another economy and strong-arming more states in just another way. there is a good reason that we eradicated grizzly bears, wolves, and other predators years ago, and those reasons are greater today and are simply being ignored. i think we need to take a few loads of grizzlies and wolves to central park in new york city, as they are extinct there and have an excellent food supply. woolybear
Not much around here that freaks me out in the woods day or night. That being said..., had I been caught in that situation you would have been watching a video of my best Fred Flinstone take off impersination. camoman1
Sounds like a sticky situation!! Plenty of wolves in the northern part of WI...and they are working their way south too... Im afraid its only a matter of time until somebody is injured or killed by wolves here, or MN or MI. Until they (wolves) have a reason to fear people, ie loud noises and lead flying, I see more and more situations like this one happening. Especially in the higher human populated areas like WI, MN, WI.
