jesse8953
I know lots of people who have them and like them.I don't like the front forarm, they seem loose and they rattle. To noisy for me.That has never stopped any of my friends from killing something with there 500.One of my friends has put his 500 through a lot and is still working great.I was raised in a family that uses Remingtons so I don't have any experiance with to many other brands. woolybear
Mine has been through he!! and back and does exactly what I need it to do. Only problem I've had with it is sometimes it doesn't like to eject a 3" turkey load and will jam the action. Could be the shells but just thought to mention that. Adjam5
I have 3 Mossbergs in my safe and never had a problem with any of them. Two 835's in .12ga and one 500 in .20 ga. 1000's of rounds through each of them. They are entry level shotguns and economy priced also. There is a little to want in the rattle dept. Cause they do rattle a bit on the forearm. My son Joe put a rifled slug barrel with a cantilevered scope mount on his 500 for deer, and it is quite accurate with Brenneke slugs. Jeramie
Ive owned several. They are a great little pump for the money. Barrels are easy to come by. They are accurate and very dependable. Im looking at picking up at 20ga and it will also be a MB 500. Great little shotguns.

Turkeygirl
I have a Mossberg 500 20 ga. with a 26" barrel, and a Mossberg 500 20 ga Super Bantam that is camoed and has a 22" barrel I think. My big 500 I've used on everything...reliable and does the job. I use it every year for shotgun deer season. Only had the Super Bantam 2 years but love it, it's my turkey gun and has dropped 2 big toms at 30 yards. Great gun and a good price. QueenOfTheMarsh
I commonly refer to them as MossTURDS. Not a big fan at all, had too many problems with them (jamming mainly) and refuse to buy another. Listening to opinions of customers at work it seems to be 50/50 ... people either love them & have nothing but good luck or they hate them & have had nothing but problems. Glad to see no one else on here has had problems!
swampbuckva
I have had mine for almost 20 years now and its been through a lot.Has had thousands of rounds through it and never a problem!!!My customers are about the same at work they either love it or hate it.Why anyone would hate it im not sure.Maybe the loose forearm they all have that!! mike
best slug gun i have ever used. I use the smooth bore barrel with a modified choke screwed in it and the cheap winchester rifled slugs. dead on at 100 yrds! i wouldnt trade it for any other gun, i like it better than my 1187 for slugs
MNcrittergittr
I have a Mossberg 835 12 gauge and a Mossberg 500 20 gauge. I've had em both for a long time. I really like the Mossberg top tang safety. To this day, my Mossberg 500 is my go to, do anything gun. I love it! It's comfortable, smooth, durable, reliable, and I shoot it really well! I've also been looking at the 535....Mossberg makes a good gun!
