Look for trails, acorn bearing trees where the deer will feed. Be still and quiet, don't cough, sniff, sneeze or fart. I know folks who have gone for years and not scored. If it was easy, everyone would be killing something. Build yourself a ground blind and get in it. I used to stay in the woods from sun up to sun down and not see anything. Eventually it will pay off. That is what makes it so exciting. If you stay with it, you will score. You must be where the deer are too though.

Are you hunting on private or public ground? Are there any types of food sources such as corn, beans, hay or alfalfa? look for corners where the timber meets these fields if you have any...if you have no food sources, you have to locate heavy trails in the timber or along the timber...look for sign such as tracks, beaten paths with tracks, scrapes, rubs etc. Look for areas that will funnel deer from one area to another: tree lines, fence rows, funnels, pinch points (where a tract of timber gets pretty narrow) etc. The more you let us know here about what you are hunting on, the more we might be able to help out.

Definitely go to a local pro shop, and ask around...but whatever you do, don't give up. There is way to much knowledge at your fingertips to give up...

Go to the sporting good store and put up a post on the bulliton bord....put the hole story....say I just want a chance to harvest a deer buck or doe dont matter you just NEED HELP...there are enough good people out there that someone whould help you....ALSO try the forums here under Deer hunting and just toss it out there and ask if anyone whould be able to help you....Than contact your local DNR they might have a resource....I cant guess how difficult it must be for you but DONT DONT DONT DONT give up. If hunting was easy everyone whould do it. You try to post in here and also look for a forums for your state, I'm a member of the michigan sportsman forums but you can do this, it should be easy compaired to what you've gone threw with your dissability.

Also just go asking farmers/land owners look for older owner that might not hunt. BE HONEST tell them you are new to hunting but very responsible and take extream caution wile hunting. Tell them you have a dissability but have friend/family who will be standing by if you need help, tell them you will sign a waver if they are worried about hurting your self. Whats the worst thing they can say????NO...ok say thank you and go on your way (DONT GO IN CAMO AND HUNTER ORANGE put on your sunday best to put forth a serious honest impression)....also if they take the time to listen even if it's a NO drop a letter in the mail box a day or so later (with return info) I have put my Name Number and email address on top right of paper and just (HAND WRITE) write a short note thanking them for taking the time to listen to you (keep a note book with you and as SOON as you leave the door and their not looking, or your around the corner write down their first name and last if you got it) and If they ever change their minds to please feel free to call or email you. you will be suprised when a no turns to a yes.

I'll send prayers your way in hopes you are able to find a mentor.

If you dont have an area or find a location use google maps or bing maps to view photos of it and ask the people on here than where they whould go sit. YOU'LL GET IT.

To the guys:

way to go guy....It brings a tear to the eye(truly for real) to see people with such big hearts, I know how exciting it is when you are soon to harvest your first deer and I know how exciting it is for him and I just cant WAIT to see/hear whats going on....I cant wait to be out of college and do my part to....right now we dont own the property we hunt so access is restricted and the best I can do is to donate meat....but once I'm out of college I WILL have property and I PROMISE I to will do my part to help out the less fortunate....I've been very blessed so far in my life and I owe so much in thanks.

To Alan:

remember you might be reciving some of the best help you will ever get in the hunting world. but you do have a few things to do.

1. Learn (as much as you can from what they teach you)

2. Do (as much as you can to be a good hunter)

3. Love (love the experience, the people who care, and life)

most importantly

4. Pass it on ( once you have gotten a good base of knowledge teach other)

Alan,

I'm a 23 year old college student, I dont have much to give. If the only way I can help is by getting the right people in-line than I have done SO much LESS than what I should do but as much as I can do....for now. I hope god bless's you, this hunting endeavor, and all of the people who are going to help you hunt. My biggest regret that I wasn't able to take you my self or see ya get your deer. I hope you smoke a great deer.

OH and alan I sent you a friends request

Hi Alan,

He and Jeremy are out hunting this evening, so as soon as he can, he will hop on here! These two guys are great guys, you will have an awesome time with them! They also are volunteering their time to Mentor the M.O.E, Mentoring Outdoor Experience program with the Iowa DNR this November and are very active with their local youth!

Let me know if there is anything else we can do for you!

Hey Alan!!!!

My name is Tyler Woehlk, Iowa HCO prostaff how we doing buddy. As Lisa posted Jeremy and myself would love to take ya out and help you get on some deer. We will havta do some figuring out when this would be possible, but Jeremy and I were doing some brainstorming in the stand yesterday where we could put us in a groundblind and get you a deer!!! As Lisa probably told you we will be filming this whole event and turning your "Dream into a Memory" We will also do some editing so you can have it on dvd for a lifetime. I can't wait to get in contact with you and get the ball rolling on this and I will have Jeremy get on this forum also and chat with you. Sounds like your a great guy and your passion for the outdoors is amazing, Trying 5 years and not getting on them is amazing your still interested. I get frustrated not seeing deer in two weeks. I can't promise you anything, but HCO will get you out hunting, and HCO will try our best to put you on a deer buddy.

God Bless Brother

Tyler Woehlk
