GWSmith
Just got off the phone with Buckee as he is doing the recovery phase from hunting this morning! He was hunting Blacktail Deer on "Fantasy Island"...LOL...Otherwise known as Vancouver Island BC. Canada. He spotted a bear on a trail/logging road eating some berries. When the bear saw Buckee it ran(obviously having heard of the whole Buck Knife story/legend thing already). Well since the Bear ran into the swamp Buckee went around the outside edge of it hoping that the Bear would do a push for him and spook some deer his way. Well as he is standing there watching into the swamp just inside the edge of it he hears a twig snap...... He turns to see the Bear walking straight for him! The Bear made a little detour around a tree and @ 5yds started right for him again as he came around the tree. Having the instincts to have already drawn his Bow "Just In Case" the Bear made a move....@ 5yds he decided not to wait and Center Punched Bruin right in the chest. After the shot the Bear raised up and turned away in mid-air running off out of sight. Buckee has circled the swampy area and has found no sign of the Bear leaving the thick brush so he's backing out, calling one of his local buddies for tracking help (Wilfinator), and will be going back in to recover his estimated 6-7yr old Bear! Buckee's got a Big Bruin Down I told him he could have saved all this tracking trouble if he would have just shown the Bear his Buck Knife 'cause it would have just fallen over dead right there....but NOoooooooo..Do it the hard way Steve:clown: Edited September 16, 2009 by GWSmith

backwoods07
Knowing his past, I don't think this recovery is just gonna be "found him, dragged him out, loaded him up."
