Cuz Doctor
set the ground blind up today off a food plot.had been walking around and around trimming shooting holes for 30 minutes and just happened to look down and a 3 ft. timber rattler was less than six inches from my left foot. killed it with a machete. riding 4-wheeler back to camp and ran over a copperhead about 4 ft. and he suffered the same fate as the rattler. i hate 'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! redkneck
That's a little too close for comfort. You can find them any month of the year these days, but until we can get a cold snap you better keep that machete. :death:
Turkeygirl
Yikes! Glad all that I have to worry about in my area are harmless Garter snakes...and even though I don't think I've seen one snake this year!
m gardner
Oh yeah. I love snakes! Dead ones. We've got rattlers here. Kill them at every opportunity. If you get them the first time you see them they won't have an opportunity to hurt anyone ever again. The bunnyhuggers here say they're part of nature and we invade their space and we should leave them alone. I guess they've never seen what a bite looks like as your arm swells and the flesh rots. Heck it may actually kill somebody my age.:48: I don't like scorpions either. I've been scorpion bit and that wasn't any fun I'll assure you. Good job on the snakes. joeaveragehunter
That makes my skin crawl. I couldn't imagine having to deal with snakes. I think I would have to carry around the judge to take care of them.

Haven't ran into one in the woods yet..... Hope to keep it that way

Rhino
Yep they are sure out and about. I stopped a couple of steps short of stepping on a cottonmouth Sunday morning. Didn't have anything handy to kill it so I let it go its way and I went mine. A friend of mine stepped on a rattlesnake 2 weekends ago. He was wearing snake boots but it really shook him up. We've been having a little fun since them pickin at him about being a wimp now that he's scared to go in the woods.
