csualumni21000
I am looking for an ATV to disk, mow and do all my food plot work with. What features are needed? I stopped by several ATV dealers and was told different things by different salesmen. I was thinking Honda Foreman due to the solid rear axle but then I was told independent was best. Help me out here folks. I really dont need to hear brand vs brand but what I need as far CC and what not.
joeaveragehunter
Your probably gonna hear whatever atv people like best is the one for you. Anything 400 or bigger should work. Depending on the size of the disc you are pulling grab a 500 or bigger and you really can't go wrong. All of them will work similar in your application, most of the differences are in high perfomance on the trail.
wtnhunt
So many good atv's out there, really honestly don't think you could go wrong with any of the big named mid sized and up bikes. We have a foreman 450 here and I think it would have plenty of power for pulling a atv disc. I use a tractor for dragging my disc though, so never had a need for using the 4 wheeler for that job. csualumni21000
Wife wants a 4 wheeler. A tractor would be better but she gets any outdoor equipment she wants. She has the better rifles, pistols and gear than I. When we get more land we will get a tractor. I can get a new foreman for about 6000. Will air cooled cause problems? wildguy
air cooled should be fine, but if your pulling a heavy disc for a big area it might overheat depends what size of quad too. I'd go with a
kidd
go as big as you can
MichiganHunter
though I dont disc with my atv's and they whould be light i can reccomend a brand to you, I spent 2 years looking and finally decided to go with yamaha, we have a pair of grizzly 400 but for you I whould say size is the best deal, the 700 with power stearing whould be a great tool for you. Rockytop
I suggest at least a 500 and independent rear suspension will work much better on uneven ground. For my money the Polaris is best deal and I prefer the GroundHog Max over a pull behind disc.
brad dryden
Defintaly get a 4x4 also depending on the size of disc I would say a small disc. a 400 would be fine but you dont need the biggest thing out their. Find what features you like the best. I have a Honda Rancher 350 and it does fine for me but I dont pull a disc.
