brudaman340
Anyone here ever hunted the adirondacks? Im planning on going this weekend and never done it before. Any pointers on how you should set up or what to look for or methods to hunt?
RangerClay
Where I am located the bears destroy the local corn fields and the farmers want them dead. Not sure what part of the park you are hunting but I would look for food sources. Remember baiting bears is illegal in New York.

Adjam5
From what I have read Brudaman...99% of all bears will avoid human confrontations...but you do not want to run into that 1% that won't . I am sure you know about getting inbetween a sow and cubs. Don't do it. I have also heard of a bacon fat burn being used to draw in bears. I have never done it, only heard how to. Take a coffee can full of bacon fat and place it over one of those propane burners that act like a single stove sitting on top of the gas bottle. Fire it up and if there is a bear in the area it will come to the fat burning smell. That is legal, no bait, just creating a scent. Have fun and Good Luck! brudaman340
thats an idea. I heard that your allowed to have attractant but only a certain amount of ounces of it. so, i wonder if you try that if you can only have a certain amount of bacon grease in the can? But, im not positive on that.
Adjam5
You know how bears love fatty stuff. The Chinese food place I go to in Sullivan when I am up there always gets bears at its dumpster the guy tells me. As far as how much attractant you are allowed to have. I found nothing on DEC's site that says anything regarding that. You just cannot leave food or anything that is edible for the animals to eat. If you were slopping bacon fat on a tree and hunting over it..I'd say that would be a violation. Baiting It is illegal to hunt with the aid of bait, or over any baited area when hunting big game, upland game birds, turkey or waterfowl. Go get a good one, hunt safe and have fun.
