Rattling and grunting

yep they work.... I usually have the best success when I can see the deer.

I rattled in several bucks last year....Again I usually have the best success in rattling them in after I have seen them. I did rattle a few in blindly.

your success depends greatly on the deer....Sometimes they come in on a string other times they show no interest.

Good luck ;)

I think it depends on the area and the deer's mood. There have been years when I have had great success rattling, and other years where I never rattle up a buck. To answer your question, they do definitely work, but it can be hit and miss. It's definitely worth a shot though. You never know, the next time you hit those horns together a monster may just come looking for a fight.;)

I am thinking about rattling and using a grunt call this season to try and bring in a decent buck. I was wondering if these actually work? I have no expierence using them.

Yeah, they sure do. A lot depends on the user and the population of deer in your area, but any hunter should be wise to the use of a grunt call at a minimum IMHO.

It depends on the time of year, location and buck to doe ratio. I live in an area where there are probably 6-7 does per buck. Most bucks don't come running to the sound of antlers or a grunt. They don't have to.

I hunted Kansas a few years ago. The area I hunted had a 1-2 ratio. If you passed gas at the right time a buck would come in all puffed up.

Talk to some other local guys see what they do. Call a local guide, ask him when they grunt and rattle.
