Jeramie
So my wife talked to Mercury Insurance yesterday morning. They talked about payoff on my wifes van and what they could offer. She told my wife, "You will have a little left over." The van's NADA is about $9,400 due to mileage (99k)using 100% condition otherwise. Payoff was $3,800. We figured they would offer about $5k because it is an insurance company. I spent most of the day yesterday pulling local Comps trying to get a feel for what it was actually worth. At about 5:15 yesterday I got a call from the insurance company. They offered Me $8595. I was stunned. I probably left money on the table but I was actually excited. I didnt figure they would come through but they really did. Ive been fighting them on every other hand but this is one battle I dont have to fight! Thank the Lord for favor! wtnhunt
Glad to hear that one went your way Jeramie. Hope everything else with the insurance company goes just as well for you.
stevebeilgard
that sounds like a fair offer. the only thing is, you will be asked to sign a statement that they are not liable for anything else. i's sure consult a doctor about future reprocussions on the accident before you sign anything. Hoosierbuck
+1 for Steve B's advice. Are you signing away all possible injury claims? Is OK a treble damages state? Are you giving away three times your recovery? Might want a free consult with a lawyer. Even a hundred or two for the consult buys a lot of piece of mind. Think it over before you act. c_lou
Is that just for the vehicle? Are they giving you a seperate claim for any doctor bills and what not? That sounds like a pretty good claim if it's just for the vehicle.

OJR
Separate out the hardware and get a special case opened for medical! Leave that one open!
Buckslayer
I work for an insurance carrier, not in claims, but I know they all try to close claims as fast as possible Jeramie.. just be sure there is nothing outstanding and they are aware of any injuries, property damage, etc. If there are bills aside from the vehicle payoff, be sure they are being covered and the claim is kept open (and you get that nice payoff). Jeramie
Yes, sorry I forgot to state that this is for the car only. Medical bills and Pain and Suffering are seperate.
Hoosierbuck
Many states have a built in clause that certain events trigger eligibility for 3x's the property damage sustained. Thus instead of a comparable used vehicle you end up getting a NEW one. I am not saying this is one of those cases, but if it was my family, I would find out.
