Turkeygirl
Ok, got a question for anyone? Is changing your butt stock and forearm assembly on a shotgun hard? See when I got my Mossberg Super Bantam 500 20 ga., it came with a coupon for 1/2 off the price of a full size shotgun stock and forearm. I emailed Mossberg about it, they finally got back to me today with instructions and a chart of what my choices are :wood, black synthetic, woodland camo, MOBU, or HDG which I think is hardwoods green maybe? Now my thoughts are to take these and replace the stock and forearm on my full size Mossberg 500 20ga. shotgun...should fit shouldn't they? Thanks! Adjam5
It is not a big deal Ruth. Everything should fit just fine. I did the same for my son Joe as he grew up with his bantam 500 in .20ga There are 2 Phillips head screws to take off the butt pad. Then you need a long flat head screw driver to turn the slotted bolt left, to take off the butt stock. Reverse procedure to install larger butt stock using same long bolt. Now the forearm is a bit tricky. Getting the slide rails to rest in the grooves can be a bit tough. Did your 500 come with a manual? It is hard to explain how to put the forearm on. If you don't have one I have a few, I'll send ya one or you can e mail Mossberg and they will send ya one. Look here on youtube

Tominator
Don't know about a Mossburg, but it's easy on a Remington. Ithacas are easy too.
hunterbobb
The only bad thing is that it takes a special wrench to remove the forearm.
Turkeygirl
A special wrench? Like how much $ does this wrench cost? Is it possible to change it out without a wrench?
Adjam5
Ruth...I used no special wrench to change the forend of my son Joes .20ga Mossberg Bantam 500 to the adult sized stock. After twisting the end cap off the mag tube, the slide rails in the receiver should be able to fall out. When that happens the whole fore end can be pulled off and the slide rails placed back into the receiver lining up with the bolt. The slide rails are what moves the bolt back and forth. No special tools are needed. Do you have the manual? If not I have an extra one that I can send you.
