wildguy
I want to get a good trail camera for about a $100 any suggestions???
AaronS
I've read a lot of good reviews on the Moultrie D-40, which retails for $99. You can sometimes find them on sale for less.
backwoods07
I second that. Moultrie makes a pretty good cam for cheap. Welcome to the forums!

joeaveragehunter
I don't know if I have the above metioned camera from a few years ago, but mine is a moultrie 4.0 with a flash and a 6v battery. Even in the summer I have only got 500 pics before the battery went dead. It might be something with my camera but I thought you should know. jm23494
Picked up a Wildgame Innovations IR4 a few weeks ago and have been getting great pics with it. It cost me $89 at Gander Mountain. The first week I had it out I got over 100 pictures. Heading to check it this weekend to see how the batteries are doing (going on 4 weeks) and what pics I have. IR cam for $89? For some reason I'm not sure I would trust that cam. Keep us posted on how it's working.
hutchies
I bought 2 of the IR4's for $79 at Bass Pro and so far so good. They take great pics.
hutchies
Night Pic-I have clearer night pics but I lightened them and I wanted an original.
jm23494
So far it has been out for about 4 weeks on a set of Duracell C batteries. The battery indicator showed that they still had about 3/4 life left. That is with around 230 pictures taken so far. For the price I do not think that you are going to find a better IR camera out there. The second picture that I got with it:
MichiganHunter
I just purchased a wildgame innovations ir4 and it's been a great camera. It's a 4mp with an IR flash. i dont think there are many others that offer the ir flash for the price. It seams to take great photos, i will be gettin another one as soon as I can. below are some bear photos from mine Edited September 29, 2009 by MichiganHunter
backwoods07
I stand corrected. Those cams look like they're doing the job.
jm23494
Checked my WGI cam over the weekend. It's been out for over a month now on a set of batteries and is still going strong.
layin on the smackdown
Great reviews from everyone so far....i think i am on the market for a few of these suckers. Looks like Ole Bill and the boys did their homework!
wtnhunt
Looks like those wildgame innovations cams are a great deal for the money. Aside from one leaf river cam, all my cams are homebrews. Have a bit more in them than what those ir4 cams are selling for. What kind of trigger time, and what kind of range are those cams getting? PORTER11BRAVO
good camera I have a D6 by Wildgame Innovations its bad ass I started off with ir4 but it kept locking up on me,I sent it to BA Products who makes them and they sent me back the D6.I am on week 4 and a half and the four c batt are at only 2 bars and its filled a 2 gig card twice about 3000 pics, trigger time could be better I'm guessing around 2 sec. the quality of pic is sweet day or night strobe or ir yes you can choose between ir or strobe and easy to use I recommend to all I dont know price of d6 but i paid 99 for ir4 Edited October 9, 2009 by PORTER11BRAVO more info

BearClaw
I bought a WGI from Wal-Mart awhile back for $50 bucks. It worked great for about a week, then it took blank pictures at night. Sometimes it worked but most times not. Daytime pics were good. I finally took it back. I have an older version of the Moultrie and it still works great. If I get another it will be the Moultrie that everyone is talking about here
bamabulldawg
I have 2 of the old moultrie 100's and 2 D40's. I have learned a valueable lesson about buying moultrie cams from talking to their service dept. I bought one of my 100's from Bass Pro when they ran a $60 special and one of the D40's the next year on a $60 special. Both cameras from bass pro have given me problems. The 100 caught on fire and the D40 takes 3 blackedout photos for every 10 good ones. Turns out that both cameras I bought were specially built for bass pro's sales. I really think moultrie has bad quality control when it comes to their Mass Orders (like bass pros christmas sale when they order thousands at once). I will not buy anymore moultrie cams from Bass Pro when they have their big sales. Well to honest, I won't buy anymore moultries at all. Just ordered the Wildgame IR4 and give it a try.
