woolybear
How do I do this safely? What chemicals or what to wipe the flatscreen down with to get rid of all the smudgies and streaks? ex: Windex and a paper towel? I heard somewhere that is not good. I'm very stupid to these things and can't find my owners manuel?? On another note if anyone knows why anytime I hit the more smilies list my puter freezes up, any problem solving tips there would be appreciated too?? toddyboman
:soda: Though some people recommend using Windex, ethyl alcohol and ammonia-based cleaners can yellow your flat-screen or laptop monitor over time, so it is best to avoid such products. You can find an array of commercial products specifically designed to clean LCD screens, but you may prefer to just head to your kitchen and mix up your own solution. Plain old water can do the trick, or you can concoct a solution of vinegar and water or isopropyl alcohol and water. Always use a soft cotton cloth, rather than a rag or paper towel to wipe the screen. Some people recommend special electrostatic cloths, like those used to clean eyeglasses treated with anti-glare finish, or even dryer sheets. Apply the cleaning solution to your cloth rather than directly to the screen and wipe in one direction -- from the top of the screen to the bottom. One final word of warning, never touch or press on your LCD screen with your fingers as this can cause the pixels to burn out.
backwoods07
All of my LCD tv's came with a handy little electrostatic cloth. It works wonders for dust, but if there's a stain on the screen I use a little bit of water. No chemicals are gonna touch those screens!! So I guess I pretty much just repeated what toddy said. ODH
I would think a used dryer sheet would work

Usually use either lcd cleaning wipes or a slightly dampened cotton rag. On the smilie issue, thought that was just my computer. Seems to happen more often than not when trying to use "more" smilies. hunterbobb
Go to any electronics store or even Walmart. You can buy special clothes/wipes to clean all your electronic equipment.
