i had an experience just like you, jason. 2 flu shots each year for 4 years, flu each time. 1 needle in my arm since 1970, and flu about 6 times total. i'll do without, thank you. i may get stupid and try the nasal inhaler this year, per my family request. but if i get the flu, i'll die whenever i die and never take another one. simple as that.

I hate to sound like my girlfriend the biologist. However, I feel like I should share. H1N1 is a classification for a virus. 80% of all flus are H1N1. the swine flu H1n1, the regular flu H1n1, its like personal cars and trucks are H1n1 and semis are other kinds of the flu. Its a bs scare tactic by the media to drum up ratings. the whole thing is a joke and I want you guys to know...DON'T BUY INTO IT.

It's partially the media, 95% is the libs in DC. They're using it as a scare tactic in order to pass the health care package. With the majority of this country being a bunch of bedwetters..............it'll probably work.

Already made its rounds through here, kind of pointless to get the shot since any mutated new strains the vaccine will likely not help. You cannot get the same strain of this flu again supposedly. Our 8 year old tested positive for flu Monday, she was better by Wednesday afternoon. Catrina has it now and it is lingering a bit longer for her, but this h1n1 flu is not as bad as the common flu that is on its way a little later.

I won't be getting it, but I was wandering if everybody is getting the swine flu vaccination for your kids. My daughter is in kindergarten, and my boy in daycare. Around here it seems about 50/50 on who's getting it for their kids. We got a letter a few weeks ago that said some students in the district had tested positive.

This flu has and is already made/making its rounds through the schools around here. Think for a vaccine that has not been thoroughly tested and a flu that as of right now seems to be milder than the common seasonal flu, we would likely not have our kids get the vaccine even if they had not already been exposed to this flu.

The wife at her work has to get consents for the folks in the home and she said the overwhelming majority of people are opting for the vaccine for the seasonal flu, but NOT for the h1n1(swine flu) vaccine, people just don't trust the vaccine that has not been well tested.

I think I heard something about healthcare workers, it would be mandatory to have the shot. I'veh ad to get the regular flu shot while in nursing school....and probably would again, but the H1N!, I'll wait on that, especially while I'm not working. No one knows the side effects and reaction this vaccine could have. Even my uncle, who's a retured surgeon, mom was talking to him on the phone and he said to wait because you don't know what will happen.. We'll see what happens when alot of people get it....hopefully no reaction, but who knows, that's the scary part!

Just now making its rounds here. Took my son to the emergency room the other night and it was packed. Several kids had masks on. I'm assuming the admitting nurses were told to mask anyone with certain symptoms.

Sounds like media hype hysteria is running wild with this. Next they will be putting those folks in isolation chambers. What some folks don't realize is that without proper hygiene that little mask might not do as much as people like to think.

Also on this, physicians from what my wife has seen and been told are not treating those who already have the flu with anything unless they are extreme cases or in those with compromised immune systems. Common sense treatments, running a fever give tylenol or motrin to the kids. Don't run to the ER unless the fever won't come down and stay down or unless there are concerns of dehydration or unless you develop ongoing symptoms that are not going away.

I think I heard something about healthcare workers, it would be mandatory to have the shot.

My wife and I have talked some about this Ruth, and she has not said anything about it being mandatory nor have we heard anything on the news about there being any mandatory vaccines for health care workers, heck she is having a hard enough time even getting the vaccine for the few residents that want it or have family members giving consent for them to have it. She did tell me that at this point none of her licensed co workers want the vaccine. Don't think they can force anyone to take it. The vaccine at any rate is too late for these parts, imagine it is the same in several other places too.

I've taken flu shots twice. First time everyone in my family got it except me, no doubt it worked. Second time I got flu a couple months later and ended up in 2 ER's and and ambulance trip to boot in one day. Severe case of the flu, my blood oxygen was so bad that I was nearly passing out every time I coughed.

I think I'll pass until a deadlier strain emerges.

Getting an active flu virus injected into my body to prevent a flu virus from invading my body makes about as much sense to me as shooting myself with a 22 so that if I get shot with a 30 06 my body will be ready for it.

+1

Thats how i feel about it...I understand some people with certain health situations need to get it, but for all others, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...I'll take my chances without the shot....
