Indiana Bow Hunters

Hello all you Indiana bow hunters (even non-hoosiers), well we are a week away from opening day... last year i had a indiana bow forum started on here and it was popular (i believe it was)... This will be a useful tool on posting what deer are doing in your part of the state... I'm hunting grant county...

Went out last evening (23 Sept) and was driving around the areas i hunt, i saw 6 does last night around 7 pm. I saw a couple bucks together 2 weeks ago, but haven't seen them since, more than likely splitting up now...

for next week i saw the weather to be around 68 degrees for a high on thursday and a low in the middle 40's, so not a bad start to the season. Good luck to all of you and remember to wear your safety harnesses.

Ready!!

i hunt up here in steuben county and it is a killer county at that. i lost a gross boone last year, probably would have leaked in to the low 180s and ended up killing his twin son during muzzleloader. scored exactly 150" as a 13 point. i hope his dad made it through the season. i havent heard of anyone finding him. but, i do have some dandys on my trail cams from this summer.

for today i will be going out this evening to slide a " rage in the cage " on a big ol camel head!

GOOD LUCK FELLAS!!!!!

good way to start off the season (even though no kill)! I saw 5 does this morning (70 hards off), then lunch, nap, haircut then back out for the evening... I was going to go at 400 and be in the stand at 430 but i saw it was going to rain a little earlier so i left at 330 and was all setup at 400. It started raining around 430-500ish... I was looking around mainly behind the tree i was in (to give the but a rest) when i turned around and saw a nice tall 8 (at least i think that's what he had) eating some beans... came out of no where... he ate for 15 min approximately then headed back in the woods to get out of the rain that started again, so i was thinking real quick well i'll grunt at him maybe draw him in... grunt.... he stops and looks and turns back around never to be seen the rest of the night... I have drill fri, sat, sun and monday i have class all day so i'll get back out tues (no clinicals this week!!!!!!!!)... which i'm not to disappointed because it looks like it's going to be crappy... but anyways... good luck this weekend!

Went out this morning before Ben's soccer game-saw 2 small bucks and 7 does, and one big turkey. One of the does gave me a nice 20 yards shot through the trees and caught one through the lungs. Forty yards and down. I donated her to the New Carlisle Food Pantry, and am now hunting for my freezer. Windy, rainy, 44 degrees. Not your typical early season bowhunting day, but they were moving pretty good!

I've seen a bunch at Lasalle F&W - took a shot yesterday and got the shoulder bone. I didn't find her after looking for 2.5 hours - but the spot is a good one. I've seen more deer in 2 days here than previous 3 years. Haven't seen a buck this year though.

Looking forward to later on in the week. Should have a nice one before next weekend, though.

doe 1 shot this doe this morning at 850, she had 2 smaller does with her, it was one of the toughest shots i made 25 yds, squating, a foot to shoot through... hit her right in the shoulder blade and blew out the other blade, complete pass through, 1st deer with the new bow... she only ran 60 yds and i saw her crash in front of me, Rage 2 blade does the job again! you don't need blood when they die right in front of you

Michigan Hunters

matthewjr83, this is a great idea. Local hunters can always give you great tips on what's happening. We're trying to do that same thing for a bunch of local hunters in Southern Michigan. Check out the blog if you want. http://www.strictlywhitetails.com/apps/blog/

Indiana hunting has always been great. Everytime I drive through the state I always see wide and high racks. Shoot them straight and keep it up mattherjr83.

Is that similar to a fork horn? Never heard 4 corn before, it made me laugh.
