I have a cheap Fleece backpack that is over 10 years old. I can't find them anymore. All the packs now are those oversized, small pocket, noisy material type. I don't like any of them.

Could Realtree possibly make an all fleece one for us northern hunters who have to deal with "crackly" clothing in the late season. Even the suede types are loud in the cold temps.

Good thread!!

It depends. When bowhunting down here on state land, I use a fanny pack, and hook it up to the front bar of my climber when I get set up in the tree. When up in the U.P. for gun season, I use a back pack. I hunt out of a pop-up blind up there, and it's a great way for me to haul everything to and from the blind. I like to take extra gloves, calls, maybe a snack if I am going to be out there a while and the water reservoir lasts me a long time.

Depending on the time of year. and gear carried, I tend to use a backpack more but in early season I sometimes use a fanny pack. The area hunted is the big factor, as I sometimes am many miles from a road. I also prefer a backpack with a hip/waist belt, as it distributes the weight better, which results in less shoulder and back stress/fatigue.

I hunt from ladder stands.I use a backpack and put my rangefinder, knives, steel stick spreader, reflective tape, windchecker, grunt call, can call, container with scent, thermacell{depending on the time of year},extra gloves, facemask and water.I hang the backpack up beside me and put my quiver in it so you can't see the bright arrow fletchings.

I have both. Most of the time I use a waist belt/fanny pack with zippered pockets around most of my waist, so there's plenty of storage. Most of the time I'm packing in my Summit Openshot climber on my back too, so yea. When rifle hunting though I tend to use a regular pack. Stuff it with a folded up coat or something and it makes a good rest, as well as holding your other gear.

I like to carry a back pack because i was always taught that you can shed some layers but you can't put extra on. I take one during rifle season because i usually end up being the dog because i get my deer early. It is nice because i can take the layers of clothes off that i don't need and i can put them in the back pack. I also carry all of the esentails in there. The usual a knife, drag rope, a couple of bottles of water, Tp and all of the survival stuff just in case i get lost or i need to help a fellow hunter out.
