Lil'D
Anyone have experience with this caliber I'm considering getting one for a truck gun and would like opinions.
Strut10
Very fast. Very accurate. Very loud. Get one. You will fall in love with it. I've had one in a Ruger 77V for about 15 years. It is the most accurate rifle I own by quite a margin. It is at its best when you handload. Many will say "just get a .22-.250............it's the same thing". It is not. Others will tell you to get a .204 Ruger.......it's faster. It is not (although pure velocity is not what you should be focuing on). Trajectories between the .220 and .204 are nearly identical. But the Swift does it with a bullet that is over 60% heavier. Get one and don't look back at all the new-comers wannabes trying to play catch-up with a round that's been nuking varmints for 74 years. That about sums it up. I finally bought one last year and love it. It's long on "cool factor".

Sheesh, is it bad that I'm now wanting to look into one based on this review alone? I haven't owned one, but my dad had one for years and it took it's share of groundhogs. One question about this round...I hear a lot of people say it 'cracks twice', something about the initial blast and then when it breaks the sound barrier? Total BS or some truth to this? SonnyThomas
220 swift The 220 has been around for quite some time. Stories abound.

Every supersonic (1129 fps @ sea level) round has "two cracks". Yep.
snapper
If you reload...get one! If you don't, finding ammo is a little harder than the .22-250 or .204. I have a .22-250 and .204 and would prefer the swift but because of the above statement is why I own the other two.

WaCoyote
I've got a bunch 36 grn varmint grenades loaded HOT for my fall prairie dog shoot. CAN'T WAIT!!! One drawback they use a lot more powder than my little .223 but it's just a rifle a guy really has to have. The 22-250 is just an awesome round though. I sold mine to buy the swift but I'll get another someday. BTW I rolled two yotes last year at 300+ with the swift shooting the 36 grain varmint grenades. Rolled them with authority. I bought the swift towards the end of the season last year. Can't wait to get out and collect a little fur again this year. WooHoo!!!! WaCoyote
My chrony broke so I don't know exactly how fast but they sure do zap coyotes. Very accurate too. Can't wait to see how the Varmint Grenade got its name on the P-dogs.
snapper
Time to build that loading bench. Yeah...hoping once we get the garage/apartment built...the plan is leave an area in the back of the garage to box in a room for my hunting stuff. I'd like to build a bench in there! Was going to build one in the basement....just plain ran out of room.

I own two 223's and two 22-250's and there is no contest. The 220 swift is like driving a turbo charged sports car. :gun2:
quigleysharps4570
Own one myself...not much more I can add to what's already been said. Reloading is the route to go though.
