tbone7213
I have been getting good trail pics of 5 bucks. I have one pic of a nice 10 sparring with a fork horn and I have some pics of a different 10 pt with a broken brow tine and G3. I am getting no daytime pics so I moved in closer to the bedding area. I went out and bought the Primos Scarface and I want to use it this weekend with some real light rattling/grunting. I wouldn't think of doing it this early but with the broken tines on the smaller 10 pt they are obviousy doing a little more than playing at this point. I have found some active scrapes, so I made a mock scrape about 30 yards from my stand. Do you all think the decoy and rattling is a good idea or bad? If I don't get one of these bucks now chances are 2 of them will be gone b/c it is a very small area and I don't see it holding all 3. I am in MO. GWSmith
Early season my best luck has been with feeding doe decoys. It seems to put the other deer into a more relaxed state.
layin on the smackdown
Yep...feeders can be a total confidence booster, and make the deer think the area is safe. Though i don't generally use decoys this time of year, i think if you used the right one, it wouldnt hurt.
tbone7213
so you are saying a buck decoy with light rattling will spook the bucks? I thought it might, but with the sparring I have seen I thought it might work or at least not hurt. I don't care about does or small bucks, I am only after 2 mature bucks. The Kid
those big bucks aren't gonna come in looking to tear another big bucks head off at this point of the year so i dont think it would work as well as a doe but thats just me
