PAarcher
Never really had any luck calling in the early season, if you see a buck that isn't heading your direction maybe a light grunt or two if he's heading your way I would just let him come. I wouldn't try much more than that. Good luck with the PA season this will be my first one, just moved here from Michigan.
GWSmith
First few weeks of the season the only thing that seemed to work was 1-2 light grunts when I had a deer in view already. It was 50-50 if they would trun my way or not though.
camoman1
Never had much luck with bucks responding to calls in the early season. But I have had does walk past out of range, then I would give a few fawn bleats, and they would come back looking. Arrowed my doe last year that way. I dont even carry a call in early season, but I can do a pretty good fawn imitation. It will surprise you what they'll do and how close you can get them at times. Of course half the time they'll sit there looking your way then finally stomp and blow. But like camoman mentioned, when it's getting late and you really wanna sling some carbon give it a try. I give a very soft short bleat, a location call, almost sounds like "mewww" lol...
