sluggunner
This is related to my earlier post about the most surgeries. I have never broken any bones in 46 years of life..."Knock on wood," Who here has broken the most bones? Any of you ever have one of those ugly compound fractures? Anyone ever break more than one bone in a single incident? I guess I am lucky as I sure did not lead a life of caution as a young boy, climbing trees, jumping dirt bikes, skateboarding etc... Had plenty of opportunities, but never broke anything. :crutch:
lilmisswtnhunt
I fell in the gym,and fractured my wrist in 4th grade when I was 9 and missed a whole summer of swimming . I think I fractured my foot in 6th grade but our doctor didn't think so. I've never had surgery other than the occasional splinter. coles
I broke my finger playin football. Thats it. We were practicing PATs and I was playin defense. The kicker kicked the ball real low and my finger got smashed between a helmet and the ball. That was it though. Just one little hairline fracture in my right hand ring finger and the doctor put a cast on my hand/arm almost up to my elbow.
Tominator
Left fibula when I was in 7th grade. Slid into homeplate. Safe. 5th lumbar vertabrae my senior year. 2 days before state playoffs. A few fingers. My thumb and ring finger are pretty much permanently dislocated. Alisha
I've been truly blessed by not breaking anything major, especially as clumsy as I am. :clown: With that said, my little toes have taken a beating..... and one won't bend anymore. I think I might have slightly fractured two of my fingers when I was in a car wreck, but never got them checked out. *knocks on wood*
Turkeygirl
As far as I'm aware of...never broken a bone. Now I've had a few jammed fingers when I played basketball that hurt enough to be broken, and swollen enough...but basically no fractures as far as I'm aware... Doe-ee
I'm with you Alisha. Never broke anything major but a couple of weeks back I was holding this heavy steel pipe when it slipped my grip and the end of it cut right through my shoe and my sock and totally flattened my middle toe. It didn't bleed much but I'm pretty sure it was broken in probably more than a few places. Still hurts too. :baby:
OJR
I don't know where to start! I have had 38 operations and a lot of them were for bones! A lot of them weren't! Too many to go into details!
wtnhunt
Right arm, twice that I am sure of. Pretty serious compound fracture the first time when I was about 13. Bike accident, when I stood up, my arm was basically dangling behind my wrist, could see inside and see the bones through where the skin was split on top. Both bones completely snapped, one broke in two places. Broke it again within a short time, only a crack in one bone that time. Think I may have broken it again back around 1994. Broken several toes, a few fingers. Had an 1100 lb horse come down from raring up and land on my right foot, broke my foot.
dartonman
Several "boxer" fractures of the fingers, several fingers, the bones in the center of the hand (27 foot dive out of a really nice tree), lots of nose breaks, and of course the ankles., thats it for now...knock on wood. al
fly
Nose at least twice. I was about 12 pitching and an older kid hit a line drive into my nose. Then at 14 I was sledding and the snow had iced over so the steering was not as responsive as the day before. Thought I could steer clear of the telephone pole but thought wrong. Since I was on my belly I hit it face first. Looking back I'm lucky it wasn't a spinal cord injury. Had it operated on at age 15. Left arm three times. First was my senior year in highschool during a football game. Broke the radius bone into three pieces. Best thing is it was caught on video so the next week the whole team cringed as they watched my arm bend in a most non-natual way. One week after getting the cast off broke it again doing the crab-walk during spirit week in highschool (btw...I won the race). Third time was while it was still in the cast. I was busting some rusted bolts off my cars muffler and busted my arm again. Not sure how it happened in a cast, but the doctor was sure getting tired of seeing me. Also broke a coulple ribes on my last day in the Army National Guard. My platoon decided to play pile on with me on the bottom as a going away surprise. Thanks guys you're the best! Finally I teach clinical on a trauma intensive care unit in St. Louis. I see some really crazy stuff there!
Tominator
lots of nose breaks, and of course the ankles., thats it for now...knock on wood. al Forgot about the nose. Did that twice during one practice. I can now push my nose all the way across my face to the right, but it won't budge to the left.
Norm Sauceman
Had some four foot drywall stilts break and shattered the front part of my left knee. Took seven operations and two pins to fix it. Mashed off my left little finger. Took three operations to fix it. It now has a plate and four screws. Broke both my arms at the Ulna. Have had to have two operations on each and a plate and six screws to fix them. Broke my hands and fingers several times when I was fighting (karate). Was side-kicked so hard in the left side of my chest (arm pit area) it separated the ribs on the right side of my chest plate. Had seven breaks in five fingers on my right hand playing football in HS making a tackle on the first kickoff (yes, I made the tackle). I finished the rest of the game with my hand taped up. Running in gym at HS when I was a freshman and slid into the bleachers and ran a piece of angle iron into my right knee. Had a couple of gals while I was growing up break my heart to pieces..hehe
