Dawg
Our Great Dane, Tiny, died sometime early this morning. He was 4 yrs old. This makes two dogs this year. He'll surely be missed. RIP buddy.

redkneck
Sorry to hear that man, esp to be so young. Nothing to do but get another one, or at least that's what we've always done.
Dawg
That's a shame. Only 4 yrs old? What did Tiny die from? Did Tiny have any health problems? Very sad to hear of a dog dying that young! So sorry to hear of your loss! We aren't sure what was wrong. We think he might have had pneumonia. He was feverish and had raspy breathing. We sought advice and got some meds but apparently we were too late. Great Danes have a fairly short life expectancy, average about 7 yrs. Our worst fear is he could have been poisoned. My neighbor has had about 6 cats come up missing and he seems to think someone in the neighborhood could be poisoning the animals. I have noticed there aren't as many dogs running around here lately. It sucks either way, he was a good dog. Edited September 27, 2009 by Dawg

sluggunner
Very sory for your loss. Losing a pet is like losing a family member. We had a Great Dane named Nitro for 7 1/2 years. Best dog we ever had. I know you will miss him for a long long time.
stevebeilgard
sorry for the loss of your dane. they are pretty cool dogs. i sure hope your neighbor isn't doing it. can you get him autopsied? if it's poison, you need an investigarion. in any case, you need a new pup. good luck. hunterbobb
My prayers and sympathy go out to you. I have a three year old yellow lab that I love more than anything. If there is a heaven and I think there is. I know there are more dogs there than people.

I hope it's not the neighbor too. He seemed to like Tiny and has a couple of dogs and had about 8 cats so it's kind of hard to think he may have poisoned Tiny. We could have gotten him autopsied and if it did show he was poisoned we still wouldn't have any clue who might have done it. He's resting now next to our Min-Pin that died back in Feb. Here's a pic of my buddy:
dance.and.shoot
He was a gorgeous dog. I've been where you are. My Saint Bernard died when I was like 6.we had him ever since I could remember. He was my best friend. We have home videos from when I'm barely crawling and Cocoa is watching me and playing with me. Parents always said that they don't need to hire a babysitter as long as we have Cocoa. I buried him on my property. 16+ acres of beautiful land. right where he always wanted to be. Like everyone else has said, best thing to do is to start the healing process with another dog. Dog's are a man's best friend. They can't be replaced, but you can never have too many friends!!! God Bless
