gzilla45
Does anyone have any good ideas about how to get rid of squirrels that have found their way into my attic? I'm wondering if mouse poison or rat traps will do the trick? It sounds like they are running a circus up there and it is getting really annoying. I haven't found the hole where they are getting in yet and I think they are really only up there at night as that is the only time I hear them. I can't really blast them out of my yard as I'm in the city limits although I'm getting to the point where I just might start shooting them. Texan_Til_I_Die
Buy or borrow a live trap, put it in your attic and bait it with pecans.
Jeramie
That or get a bb gun. You can remove them quietly and have something to make squirrel gravy for breakfast!
Orion_70
The large rat traps work wonders on those buggers. You can also use some snares to catch them. I got invaded by them once and used all the methods to control them.
Hoosierbuck
Exclusion is the key. Get up there and run them out and seal up their entrance. HB
BuckNrut
We just harass the heck out of them by banging on the walls. Then they leave.
gzilla45
My neighbor across the street has been live trapping them and moving them to some woods he owns. I think he has removed 9 of them and it hasn't made a dent in the population. I'm going to put a couple rat traps up there and see what happens. I need to spend some time up on the roof this weekend figuring out where the little buggars are getting in. Thanks for all the ideas everyone. arrow32
Buy or borrow a live trap, put it in your attic and bait it with pecans. Be the best way. Good luck on getting them.
camoman1
Yeah I would also live trap them. If you poison them, they are likely to crawl away somewhere up there and croak....then you got some rotten smelly critters in the attic. sluggunner
Rat Trap trick If you use a rat trap here is a trick that works real good. Buy some peanuts in the shell and then glue one on the bait portion of the trap with your hot glue gun. That way they definitely make the trap go off when yanking at the peanut. If you just smear peanutbutter on the trap they will moften lick it off without making the trap go off.
Norm Sauceman
Best to go in with a pellet rifle and shoot them. Cover the hole(s) with wire mesh. I would not use poisons because some animals and predatory birds could be killed if they eat the poisoned squirrels.

woolybear
Sure that would work but my remmedy involves 2 1/2 gallons of water, a nut, a trip plate, a bucket and trigger rig, and doesn't make nearly as much noise. Chances are your neighbors will never see or hear a thing. You'll sleep like a baby through the night as well..:sleep1::sleep1:
Hoosierbuck
Like the neighbor is finding out, and like any ADC specialist will tell you, exclusion is the key. Trap a thousand of them, but if you don't block ingress, there will always be another one to take up residence. HB
Bob LeBlanc
Try one of these... http://www.victorpest.com/store/rodent-control/ultrasonic-rodent-control We use one of the mini ones at the camp and it has unquestionnably deterred mice and even ants from coming in. We used to use the 'bucket' method and would catch 4-8 mice per week...not a single one since we began using it! Not sure if it'll work on squirrels...but it'd be worth a try.
