Bowtech_archer07 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 I just received an email telling me that I was accepted as an intern, at my primary choice, Decatur Police Department. This internship is required of me to graduate college, so it is a great relief to know that I have been accepted and don't have to worry about applying at my second or third choice. My internship will start sometime in early January and more than likely run through late April. I will work 480 total hours on the job and will receive 12 credit hours for the completion of it. I have already checked into it some, and I know I can check out body armor every shift, and will be spending time on patrol, with the detective division, with the juvenile division, in the dispatch room, and maybe in a couple other areas. I have to call tomorrow to set up a time to get my picture taken for my ID and set my schedule up. This is the first step of my last semester of college. I'm excited, but at the same time I'm really nervous. I will try to keep y'all updated as to how my internship is going when I get started. I know there is a hood. I applied there and had to do a ride-along.. our first call of the night.. on the 11-7 shift, was in the hood. I was a little scared. I come from a small town, never been in the hood with people mad and not really wanting the cops there. Thanks for the encouragement and words of support everyone.
