outdoorsman91
Is there anyway to tell the difference between buck tracks and doe tracks? My feeder is covered with tracks and I am curious to know what kind of action I am getting at it. Just wondering if there is a distinction between the tracks. wildguy
buck tracks will usually be bigger, but depends on the deer too.
outdoorsman91
Bigger as in longer and wider? Will the hoofs be spread out further?
woolybear
Bigger as in longer and wider? Will the hoofs be spread out further? If you can cut a good wide splayed print durring or just prior to the rut with a staggering gait that carries any consistancy for any distance of deep impressions and gapped hooves you're probably on the track of a swollen necked, jacked up buck. Keep a close eye on the front prints as this is where they bulk up and pack on the pounds in the front quarter. Certain times of year I believe you can tell the difference but it shouldn't be confused with doe tracks in the spring when they are carrying fawns. Many times those tracks as impressive as they seem are just the opposite.

woolybear
buy a $50 trail cam and you will know what's there Yup....but some of us are still old school and pay attention rather than drawing attention. Whatever works for you works for me.
arrow32
I have no idea take what wooly said.lol But I would invest in a trail cam if you want to be sure on what you got hitting that feeder. Will be alot of still shots so you could away with a cheaper one and get some good pics.
