scottgray18
I just started coyote hunting within the last two years. I was wondering what would the best way to hunt coyotes in Pennsylvania. I usually hunt them at night using a cotton tail distress and the occasional pup distress call at night using a red light. I have not had much success this way and i was wondering if i could possibly hunt them duing the day. While I hunt them at night I wear all the same clothes that i do for archery and i use all of the same scent prevention.
arrow32
I hunt them alot during the day using distress calls. I'm no expert but did have some good luck earlier this year calling some yotes into fields for a couple of my buddies. I'll make a sit in an area up to maybe 20 minutes. That might be to long for some people but I think its good for me. Don't think if they've not come in that amount of time there not going to just myself. Maybe I'm wrong.LOL Play the wind alot they'll bust you had it happen a few times this past spring when the wind changed up.

swampbuckva
I do quite a bit of predator hunting here in VA and have talked alot with the pro staffers from FoxPro. I work at Dances sporting Goods(the largest independent hunting anf fishing store on the east coast)and every year we have a predator contest. The FoxPro guys informed me that unlike my Fox/Bobcat hunting they have had luck with coyotes in the early morning late evening just like Deer!!! It is their main feeding times so im hoping this will help you. As far as the other stuff your doing great with the scent free stuff. A canines scent ability is far greater than a deer. So keep up the Coyote hunting and keep me posted. Its great to talk to someone doing Eastern Coyotes!!!Its a whole different world from wetsern hunting!!! brudaman340
I also hunt in the east for coyotes. I been hunting them for 3 years going on 4. No luck yet but this year i think i will accomplish the hunt. Mostly because of reading. The best way is to read and ask questions on the forums. I really would like to buy a foxpro e-caller. I read that you do need a bunch of diffrent calls because coyotes are very smart and learn your calls. If they bust you on a setup you best kiss that setup goodbye, but with a foxpro caller you have multiple options on calls. The more hunting space you have the better you are. The best way to learn would be to get out and hunt them alot. Like anything you hunt, expierience is key.Check out Randy Anderson videos "calling all coyotes" and some of his mouth calls because he gives you instructional dvds. The calls are easy too. Good luck to all predator hunters.
