Muleyman
I was just wondering if any of you have any interesting or really exciting hunting moments. Mine was last night. We were looking and we seen some nice muley bucks so we made a stalk. A little buck came 35 yards and got our wind and ran the big buck stayed. The big buck was like 50 yards so we were gonna keep goin to 40 and well we were crawlin these 2 smaller bucks jump up at 20 yards so all the deer ran. I would love to here some of your stories and even some pictures.
GWSmith
I dont have a picture of one of my favorite times out there but I'll try to describe it... I was watching over a creek crossing from a small bluff about 40ft above the trail. Three creeks came together into one and there was a major trial coming from the thick woods and running along one of the creeks out to a food source. So I'm sitting there hunkered down next to the stump of a huge fallen tree. Everything is peaceful and I'm listening to the creeks make their outdoor music and trying not to fall asleep..... I hear the leaves rustle nearby... Then I actually see the leaves near my left leg move... Up onto my leg jumps this chipmunk then he walks out to my knee and sits there eating an acorn!!! At first I held my breath so I didnt scare him off then I started thinking how lucky I was to be wearing full length pants tucked into my boots...I lost it and started laughing. Poor chipmunk probably thought he was in the middle of a major earth quake as he jumped up about 6" into the air! Then he landed back on my leg then jumped a good 3ft off my leg and hit the ground running full speed. First ever Chipmunk I've seen kick up a roostertail:D
NY_Bowhunter14
Mine happened a few years ago. My dad and I were walking in the woods together, when we came to a split in the pathway we were taking. I had to go one way to get to my stand and my dad the other. Well, I get about 15 ft down my path when I see movement about 150 yds away over by where my dad is headed. So I call him on the radio and tell him I see a deer. We both get on our knees and get ours bows ready incase the deer makes it way in our direction. Well, as luck would have it, the deer does! It gets about 75 yards out and we realize its a small button buck. So now we are just sitting back and watching, we have no inent of shooting. The deer eventually makes his way to about 10 yards from my dad and 15 yards from me. He finally spooks and takes off... It was a real neat experience. Turkeygirl
Pretty much anytime I'm out in the woods, hunting or just hiking, it's an exciting moment for me....never knowing what I might find or see...and always, every time, being amazed by God's creation. Muleyman
Ya I agree. We were tryin to make a stalk on some muleys. We were at 85 yards and the doe tried to come down wind, my Dad could see it but i couldn't, it was 70 yards then, 60, 50, 40, and then all of the sudden the doe was at 34 yards so i stood up and drew back but it wasn't giving me a shot so I couldn't shoot. I may not have got a deer, but I had a lot of fun.
bucknut
One moment for me that stands out didnt include shooting a deer but it was pretty cool.. I was bowhunting from the ground, i found a fallen tree and decided i would sit across it for a better field of view. After awhile i hear rustling in the leaves.. of course its a squirrel making a heck of a racket.. so i just keep watching the field i was hunting not paying much attention to the little critter who was now at my feet.. so next thing i know the little bugger decides that i must be part of the fallen tree so he ran straight up my right arm, across my shoulders, iam pretty sure he even stopped on my left shoulder and looked me in the face. Ill never forget that experience
dawgitall
Around 20+years ago, I had set up a loc-on across the road from my buddy's house. We had permission to hunt but I was the only one that had any interest in Bowhunting. I had been watching all the hunting videos avalible back then. I was determined to become a better hunter. A couple months before I bought a used Suzuki King Quad 250. I was in heaven. I had rode my 4-wheeler to the edge of the field close to my set up and walked the rest of the way in to the stand. About 30 minutes before dark I heard some "clanging" and did not know what it was. After a minute, it dawned on me that it sounded like 2 bucks fighting just like on the videos. I got down out of my stand and eased up back to the field. I could see my 4 wheeler and more comotion was going on on the other side of it. I crawled up to it and could see the deer about 30 yards on the other side of it. I nocked an arrow and got to my knees but could not get a shot because the grass was to high. I slowly stood up to clearly see there was a 6 and a 8 point sparring and what not. I began to draw my bow and one of them spotted me. They bolted into the woods. I did not get one but I've been on fire for Bowhunting ever since!

col3
Had a respectable 4X5 come outta no-where at 20 yards, drooling and licking the smoke coming from the scent sticks i was using, was about to shoot, went to clip my release on my string, but accidently banged my release on my bow.. sent him running, oh well, it was a great night to be in the woods and il get another chance
