Adjam5
Just want to let my Realtree family know all seems to have went well this morning. I was nervous about it all. Yeah big bad Anthony was scared a bit about going under the knife. I tore my ACL on Sept4th on the job. So...my Dr used some of my hamstring in the same leg to replace my ACL(anterior cruciate ligament). Pretty cool procedure. He drilled a path from my tibia to my femur diagonally, pulled the replacement ACL through the path and fastened it with a screw and a washer on both sides. http://www.sportsknee.com/education_aclhamstringkatek.htm It hurts like heck and the nerve block they gave me to numb my leg is wearing off...so it looks like I will be taking one of those pills very soon that make me so very Ga Ga. This will be me for a week or two:crutch:. BUT... It looks like I might even be able to bowhunt late this season! I need to have my son build me a blind behind the house. No climbing trees just yet. Watch out wide 8, oops I mean wide 7. He broke off his G3 on his left side. Anyway...I would like to thank all of you who have sent prayers my way and even those that did not pray and just thought about me in their busy day. I will keep y'all posted on the healing process. I had my acl replaced several years ago, but they used a section from a cadaver. I hope you are able to get out in the woods soon, speedy recovery. Adjam5
how did you hurt it? heal up soon! Thanks Christina:). I hurt it at work carrying material down a ramp and I stepped on something and twisted my knee. "deerslayer2295- I hope you feel better soon, because I can sympathize with you. I had my acl replaced several years ago, but they used a section from a cadaver." Yup that was the procedure a few years ago. Using cadaver parts for repair. They have come a long way. Did ya see the link I posted on the procedure? They used a piece of my hamstring to fix it...cool. I have to see the Dr today at 2 and most likely have the bandages removed. They are talking aggressive therapy. 2-3x a week:eek:. I am hoping to be back to work by the new year. Thank you everyone for the well wishes:). Glad you made it through sugery...now make sure when you take your pills you get up slowly...put the side rails up...lmbo. Yeah they use to do cadaver acl's, then I was reading about alot of infections caused by the cadaver acl's...no good.

Adjam5
How about a pic of the handi work? A lot more staples than I thought, 13 in all. Still very sore and therapy starts on Wednesday right after the staples are removed. Looking forward to moving on and getting this behind me. Thanks again for the well wishes. Adjam5
Looks alot like mine did. Muff...You mentioned a while back about the ice pack cooler thing. I have not heard anything to that effect being offered to me or will that come with therapy? Also...did it seem to hurt more when it rains? Man, I woke up to a throbbing knee and lots of pain. It is raining here. I guess this can just be chalked up to another bone injury that will hurt when the weather ain't right. A better pic. 4 little wounds and one big one. Muff
yep thats just like mine....I had to rent the cooler thing....plus a thing I put my leg in (the day after) that started to bend my knee to get it working....it cost me 700 bucks to rent these 2 things. OJR
Looks like it is healing just fine. I would pack ice on it several times a day and especially after therapy. As for the weather, welcome to the world of "ARTHUR"! He is going to be with you the rest of your life! Sorry but that is just the way it is!
