Thermacell problem

Mine does too. Never gave me a problem spooking game though. Of course by the time deer season rolls around, it has usually frosted and all the skeeters are dead...

Same here Ken...The scent is supposed to be made out of ingredients that are natural and not alarming to game.

When the skeeters are gone mine get turned into heated scent dispensers with doe urine!

Don't know for sure, but think I had a doe pick off the thermacell on me the year before last. All I could figure. She looked directly up at me. Thought I was pretty scent free, and was wearing scentlok from toes to my neck. She did not spook, but she did try to wind the area I was in. She never was able to make out what I was, and she ended up walking off.

Mine does not smoke too bad all the time, but I can smell the repellant so I know that a deer can also smell it. Whether it alarms them or not, I don't think it bothers them too much, if you are hunting a favorable wind they should not ever smell it.

Thermacells do make a light smoke, AND a light odor. I can see it, and I can smell it. The alternative is not being able to hunt, or using OFF when you have the wind to your advantage. As long as I have a cool day to hunt, I put up with one or two buzzing around my ears. BUT when I go to the swamp, its mosquito repellent, or you just dont go. It is impossible to hunt when you have a few hundred hammering you from every angle. I've tried it and got off my stand after a few minutes. An absolute impossiblity for some of us in some areas. Long story short, a thermocell is the least noticable mosquito repellent I have ever used, but it is noticable by deer by just a tad, you can believe that.

LOL. Swamp is all around us here where we hunt, and this years excess rain has surely not helped matters. Before the thermacell was using the bugsuit and no stinkin bugs. I still get mosquitoes coming in and have gotten bit using the thermacell, but nothing like it would be hunting without it.

Mine smokes a little and has an odor, but if the deer get downwind and smell the thermacell they are going to smell my scent as well. I wear scentblocker from head to toe and do all the things I can to destroy my scent but I don't think there is a product out there that can destroy all of your scent. They do keep the skeeters away.

Well I started a thread last night about the ThermaCELL, wished I would have looked before typing, all my questions was answered here. Mine does smoke, and I can smell it as well, we all know if we can smell it, the deer can smell it. I hunt in a swamp in Louisiana and definetly need something. The ThermaCELL does a heck of a number on the skeeters, but it has spooked deer twice for me. Kinda scared to use it again, but like some of the others, guess I have no choice if I wanna hunt.......THX Guys
