sparty
I was wondering what everyones opinion is of a blind like Ameristand or a double bull.Has anyone used them in windy areas? Are they somewhat water proof. Will a small heater keep the chill off? Are they quiet? I am hunting the rifle season again in KS and decided that I need something to at least keep the wind off so I can sit all day. I do not have a prefernce on brands I just want something durable,Thanks
swampbuckva
I think Ameristep has a great selection and plenty of options for scent control,Shadow control, and Noise control. Check out the Intimindator blind!!!

I've had an Ameristep Doghouse for 3 seasons now and I love it. Plenty of room for me and the kids. I will be sitting in mine in about 4 more hours. MNcrittergittr
Ameristep is the way to go, they make nice affordable blinds. I've had a couple dog houses and loved em! Last year we bought a Yukon Tracks/River's Edge blind and it's great too! WAY easy to set up and take down. I like the Yukon Tracks/River's Edge Dispatcher Elite blind too. Blinds are great wind breakers, and they keep ya dry too! I've used heaters in my blinds, as long as you use your head and are careful, you won't have any problems. If you are just gun hunting it won't be hard to find a good blind for ya. I strictly bowhunt so I need bowhunter friendly blinds. I love hunting out of a blind, and I'm pretty sure you will too! Good luck!
gzilla45
I also hunt out of the Ameristep line of blinds and haven't had any issues with them. They definitely help to keep the wind down and outside of a down pour, they do keep you mostly dry.
GWSmith
I use a single burner propane stove in my Hub-Style ground blind and it keeps it plenty warm enough...also give you somewhere to heat up the coffee too...LOL I have one of what is now the Primos Escape ground blinds. https://shop.primos.com/c-123-ground-max.aspx I bought mine back when Big Game Treestands still owned that side of their business. It's holding up very well and I've used it almost exclusively the last few years. I think you can get them online for under $

Mine has held up pretty well when you use all the stakes it works well. Bigger stakes if it's out in open windy country would help I think. I use it all year. It is showing wear but has much use still left in it.
backwoods07
We've owned several blinds (couldn't tell ya the brands or models). All of them came with plenty of tie downs and anchor points to fight off high wind. They keep you dry and out of the wind. I've never used a heater in them, but I can imagine that would work pretty well. The one problem we had is finding a seat low enough for you to be able to shoot sitting down and not making too much noise moving around.
