mikewink
:drink:What is the worst thing to happen to you while bowhunting? Several years ago, I went to Kansas to bowhunt. Put in some hard time and had several close encounters with a 160" typical 8 and a large 180"+ non-typical. My last day I arrowed the non-typical. The deer of a lifetime. The shot was a marginal hit, at least so I thought. The buck had jumped the string. And the hit was a little high. I backed out and left him. Gathered up some help and went back 4 hours later. Got back to the impact area and the blood trail was one of the biggest I had ever seen. The buck went about 150 yards. Died in a ditch on the side of a road. All that was left was the drag marks, where some one had pulled him out of the ditch and loaded him up. You can imagine the ups and downs that happened that day. I think about that deer a lot. Haven't seen one that large since.
Stinger-Hunter
First shot taken on a deer with a bow was in Marion County Indiana near Indianapolis. 30 yard shot right before sundown. I knew I hit her, but didn't wait long enough to begin my search. I looked for her for a total of like 6 hours - never found her. Luckily, I learned my lesson and the same year hunting private land in NW Indiana, I arrowed a 10 pointer.
camoman1
Shot a nice little 9pt on some public land a few years back. He ran into a pond and died...so there he was floating in about 6ft of water. That was fun fishing him out of there. Also managed to drop my bow from my stand one morning, didnt do much damage but it ended my hunt for that morning.
