wildguy
I've used the bushnell Scout 1000 with ARC, you can get it for about $300. for the price you get an awesome rangefinder

Leo
For bowhunting ranges the Bushnell 450 sport works just fine for me. You can get one for around $150. The "angle adjust" type are nice but IMO you don't need it if you have practiced from an elevated position at the same height for the close ranges (under 25 yards). hunterwebb
i have a Nikon 400 it sale for about 200$ if you buy one with arc it only come in to play if you get 30 feet or more in the air 25 feet is high enough for me

Tony
i had a bushnell that served me well for many years. i have it on lone to a young hunter now. i bought a Nikon 600 in realtree camo 2 years ago and i just love it. its super compact that it doesnt take up much room in a pack and is easy to use. joeaveragehunter
If its just for bowhunting, a cheap one that goes to 100 yards is more than enough. The ones that calculate the angle of shot are a gimmick. If you have a 30 yard shot and you are 20 feet up in a tree, the actual distance is 30.73 yards. Not enough for anyone to adjust for. GWSmith
The way it works is to put the "Backline" on top of the animal and the line that matches the belly is the distance...easy enough to make using a lifesized 3-D decoy.
