woolybear
Thanks for the name Jesse! And yeah, I'm livin the high life. Don't think my feet have touched the ground yet! I spoke with several taxidermist and it's gonna be pretty expensive to get another cape and get a shoulder mount done. Plus, I'm kind of skeptical of having a deer that is not my deer mounted and on the wall. I think it would really bother me, especially if the new cape didn't really look like the deer I shot. With that said, I am going to do a European mount. I don't have one, so I'm pretty excited. I'm thinking about getting a Euro mount kit that Sasksheds makes. I think they are pretty dang cool. Thanks again everyone! Good luck and happy hunting. Hey, your trophy do what ya want with him. If you head down to your local processor I'd bet you can find a cape to match for a song. Sometimes they cape them out and the customer changes their mind. I'd be more concerned about is the form and the pose with that dude. But hey- euros are cool too and he'll make a great one. Glad you finally caught up to him, super buck man.

jerdanmagic
Thanks again everyone! I'm still coming down from an mentally and physically exhausting weekend. I went though pretty much the full scale of emotions and then some. From being so excited that I arrowed an incredible deer to the sinking feeling of losing such an awesome animal. Then 2 sleepless nights and then a day I will never forget. Having my dad there with me when I found it made it that much more special. It was a day that I will never forget. Now I'm stir crazy! I've never been fortunate to take a buck this early in the season and I don't know what to do with all my extra time. I guess I better get back out there and start taking some does. We've taken 4 this year so far and we've still got 25 more doe tags to fill. Better sharpen the knife. Still haven't take Miller to the taxidermist yet. I can't decide whether to do a full shoulder mount or a European. Pros and cons to both. For now, he sits in the freezer. Good luck to all. Shoot true! SoonerStateP&Y
Whoa, that is a crazy looking buck! You live in Norman? I live and hunt down towards Blanchard, about 20 minutes from you. I haven't been out yet this year, but it looks like the OK deer are movin good. Did that thing come from the Norman area?

Yep, this cool weather has got em stirred up a bit. I live in Norman, but I hunt in Johnston County. At least he will make a good european mount! Congratulations on finding him.. Yeah, I decided to do a European mount. I don't have one and I didn't like the idea of buying another cape. I didn't want to have a deer on the wall that really wasn't the deer I shot. Now, if it was a 180 class or bigger than my current best (140), I might be singing a different tune. I took him to Skulls Unlimited on Saturday and they said it should only take a month or two. Can't wait to get him back.
