My girlfriend was all about hunting before season opened now she is getting pissy with me all the time because i want to hunt and she wants to spend time together. What do I do? swohiodave
how much do you hunt? my girlfriend knows i will go out hunting and then come home and do stuff with her. She also knows hunting season is only a few months out of the year. we just bought a house and moved in a week ago and she encourages me to go. it gives her and her daughter time to go shopping while im gone. sounds to me like your girlfriend is too needy! OJR
Go hunting! You are seeing the handwriting on the wall, she isn't going to go hunting and will do everything she can to stop you! Get a new girlfriend!
arrow32
I'd hunt. If she don't like it now if you would marry her think of what it would be like then. I tell every girl when I want to hunt and fish I'm going if you don't like it to bad. Not hte nicests thing in the world but hey I want to hunt and fish. DocMort
Thanks guys basically, she bought a bow to shoot with me but she will only shoot for like half an hour. I hunt as much as possibly like 4 days a week. I am in the Army so I hunt when I get the time. Shes mad because we don't spend all day together. **** I even took her with me today. Shes trying to get me to cancel my Elk trip to Colorado in a few weeks. Shes getting ready to be moving out
birdhunter39
be a gentleman and help her pack and when she's on the way out tell her don't let the door hit her . you have too much to worry about first of all your defending our great nation second of all your a hunter , there are other fish in the ocean . and please don't give up your hunt in Colorado
DocMort
No she was told hunting will win over her, by me and my mom and my little sis. I come home every night to her just not enough I guess. Shes great when I am around her 24-7 and not looking at the forums.
Doe-ee
If she agrees to go with you make her as comfy as possible (warm clothes, hand & foot warmers, hot drinks) etc. If she likes photography, it may give her another "focus" besides just sitting there, being quiet. I don't hunt with a weapon YET, but do take the camera and have a good time relaxing in the outdoors. If she doesn't want to go at all there really isn't anything much you can do, except to assure her that you will spend equal (or more) time with her and then do it! Good luck to you both. It may take a while before she agrees, so give her some time to think it over.
ildrhntr
Go hunting women out number us like 7 to 1 in the world so you can always find another one
RTPROFamily
Get a nice inexpensive hunting blind that is big enough for both of you. Then get her a nice fold up chair and give her a book to read and tell her to be quiet! ( You will still be spending time together) If that doesn't work, help her pack and load her car. Randy has been down this road before. He had one old GF say there had better not be any more deer get in the way! This was in Nov! Randy said it is part of my job. She is gone! RangerClay
Shes trying to get me to cancel my Elk trip to Colorado in a few weeks. Shes getting ready to be moving out That would seal the deal for me. She will not change and never will. Why torture yourself and live in misery for the rest of your life. Tell her goodbye. This is more than just hunting, it's your happiness.
fly
Women don't like to be second. A wife is one thing, but a girlfriend is another. A lot of people do things when dating that will not hold over time. Set a precidence now and if she comes around you'll have no worries later. Hunting season is a few months out of the year, she can have you the other months. Good luck!
woolybear
I sure wouldn't give up something I enjoy so much. Guess you need to come to some sorta compromise if things are expected to work out. Maybe half day hunts. If not an option....enjoy all the time in the woods you want. If you cancel that trip she wins I'll be dissappointed in you:D
jesse8953
If that is the way she is going to act,it is only going to get worse as time goes on.As for canceling your trip or she moves out.I would tell her "Don't let the door hit you where the good lord spilt you!" Alisha
There has been a lot of good advice given here...... and I agree completely. If she doesn't like it, then tell her to hit the road! 99% of the time, women like this won't ever change. Find someone who also enjoys spending time in the outdoors, those kind of women are out there, you just gotta look harder and don't stop at the first pretty face you come across! In my experience with talking to other women, the prissy ones are the type that can't handle it! Good luck in whatever you decide to do. stevebeilgard
she's threatening you? go hunting and i'll move out??? if you want a dictator for a girlfriend, listen to her. she'll only get better (?) at telling you what to do. as for me, i'd tell her it's been wonderful but hunting has been a part of my life longer than she has, and i'd go hunting. DocMort
Well she has been told that cancelling my trip to Colorado is not an option and if she has a problem with that I will help her pack. I will not give up hunting for anyone.

GWSmith
Having a happy home life for a Hunter can be tough but it's made worse...by US..if we dont have "Balance". If she was good enough to spend your time with before Hunting Season started IMHO she deserves at least part of the time off you do have. If you communicate with her thats most of the battle. The part most of us have had trouble with is giving up hunting time to make sure that is done. If you communicated with her that during hunting season she would basically become a "Widow" then she's finding out your a man of your word. If you never said anything about how much time you would be spending away from her and just assumed she would understand your wrong not her. There's no way to sugar coat the truth...sorry. DocMort
She was told that during hunting season I will hunt dark to dark. She will be there after dark as I will be. She might have a problem with it but there are more girls out there who have an understanding of deer hunting.
