MikeinVirginia
I am in Virginia and have been think about changing over the Realtree AP. I have been using Mossy Oak break up for years. I am in Virginia but will also be hunting out west for elk next year. I just wanted to see if anyone has some good input here. Thanks, Mike

MikeinVirginia
Yeah Can not find input about this subject online. I was looking for feedback from Realtree users.
GWSmith
Can not find input about this subject online. I was looking for feedback from Realtree users. I'm alot like you Mike...I used Mossy Oak because thats all the local Walmart carried. I used what I could even though it was simply too dark. Now I use RealTree AP because I finally got so frustrated I ordered clothes online(4X top/3X pants). Only thing you can find in those sizes, unless all you wanted to wear was sweat clothes, in the stores are 2X and the rare 3x. Of course as fate would have it...I spent all the money to get the clothes I wanted then became a Prostaffer for Staywoods the makers of The Warmbag! http://www.thewarmbag.com/ It does not matter what I wear underneath it now and the one I have is RealTree AP... Even the bag is in RealTree AP...LOL Edited October 7, 2009 by GWSmith
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Advantage timber used to be my favorite pattern, very effective around here for all seasons, harder and harder to find nowadays. Now most of what I buy is in RT AP, probably one of if not the most versatile patterns on the market today.
ToddCountyKiller
I like the Hardwoods HD alot. But just like anything else, AP is out and fresh, so it will be the go to stuff.
HunterLuke
I'm also from Virginia and the realtree AP blends in very well with my terrain here, which can be pretty diverse. From open hardwoods, to cedar thickets, and 25 feet up in the tree
Dakota
I do a lot of western hunting (deer/antelope) and prefer Realtree Max-1 camo. Another pattern that works well both where I hunt close to home and out west is Realtree AP HD. Dakota

WvBowhunterKE
Hardwoods is the best for our area here in West Virginia, but I guess the question is on why best suits your terrain. Ap has actually been getting introduced into most of our hunting shops and even walmart which is a big help. It saves the drive to Cabelas every time you go to look for some new camo. hungry hunter
Realtree AP HD, in the woods and brush while hunting sky rockets.
MichiganHunter
UMMM REALTREE......LOL.... :hammer1: ...but I use to use mossyoak and it was ok...the new realtree AP HD is NICE
Jeramie
I use a mix between Realtree APG and Hardwoods. Not even taking the site in consideration, ive always used RT cammo pattern. Im not a fan of Moldy Oak patterns but that doesnt mean they wont work. Ive killed deer in Jeans and a t-shirt before.
elnor
I have a lot of Hardwoods HD accumulated in recent years, but newer stuff is mostly Realtree AP or APG. Just bought some Under Armour cold gear thermal bottoms, top, and glove liners last night, actually, all AP pattern, and brilliantly printed (very crisp, you just "see right through" them). Prairiepredator
I use realtree AP because it is easiest to find and works well anywhere. I like advantage max-1 too, but it is not as easy to find especially since I have to get my hunting clothes in tall sizes most of the time. wyohunter
well i guess im the ODD man on the site, i use prairie ghost camo the most, but i do have some realtree gloves and hats....i know...hangs head in shame
backwoods07
Mossy Oak is way too dark IMO. I use Realtree AP or Hardwoods Gray.
bluelund79
Realtree Hardwoods Green or Realtree AP and AP Green. For duck and goose-Advantage Max-4. Its a no brainer for me...I passed up a smoking deal on a bow because it was in M@$$Y @ak....
joeaveragehunter
mossy oak is what I had for seven years. If I had $400 to replace perfectly good camo, I would consider the new AP. Kind of funny when I am gun hunting in blaze orange, I have decent bucks walk within 20 yards while still hunting on the ground and they more often than not don't see me. Yet, camo is like a disease, for some reason I always want whatever the latest is.

The_Kat
Camo's camo in my opinion. I've used all of it at one time or another, pretty much whatever is on sale at the end of the year is what I get. I wore Mossy Oak when I first started bowhunting, but then I bought the HD pattern which I still use, and I also have a suit of AP also. The pattern I use is more or less determined by the temps outside lol. My HD is more for warmer weather, and my AP is for my colder temps simply cause the HD is uninsulated, and the AP is insultated lol.
