Bloodtrailer
Took an early lunch break today to head to my stand and try to find the arrow that killed my deer, I cant find it anywhere. I found half of it, but not the end with my 15 dollar broadhead. Has anyone ever used a metal detector successfully to find an arrow? My sister has one, and im going to give it a whirl, i refuse to leave that arrow.
backwoods07
I never have, but every time I lose an arrow I think about how easy it would be to find with a metal detector. I'm looking forward to hearing some responses.
redkneck
I took a swack at a rabbit last year, went back with my metal detector twice, havent found it yet!
ruttinbuc
Guess it would depend on the metal detector. Some are more powerful than others while others only pick up on certain metals. I have a few msyteries out there myself.
PAarcher
Pull an arrow from your quiver and adjust the settings on the metal detector to pick up your insert and broadhead. I've found a few in long grass with one, but it was a cheaper metal detector it wasn't easy but it did work.
PAarcher
Oh yeah and congrats on that nice Pennsylvania Whitetail!
Hoosierbuck
I have done it with a cheaper old Bounty Hunter I got when I was a kid. Found a few that have snaked under the grass. Usually the tip/head that sounds the alert. HB
Orion_70
Yep, I have used a metal detector to find an arrow I lost. Was on a target though and had a sight direction of the arrow. Even then it was difficult with just the field tip that would tone. If you don't have an idea of the general area, it's going to take longer than what that broadhead is worth. Then again, you can't put a price on self satisfaction!
Ethan Givan
I have tried before but never had any luck with it. I had to stick the metal detector right to the tip to get a signal from it.

kyhunter
I use to be a Metal Detector Dealor and sold several cheap detectors for finding arrows, especially when the aluminum shafts were more common. If you know the general area of where it was lost, than it shouldn't be to hard to find them. Just be cautious on walking around and don't step on a broad head that might go through a soft shoe. Hoyt03
I did a few times when I shot aluminums, mostly target shooting though. Whenever you re on the ground and miss your aroow usually goes into the ground flat and cannot be seen. Worked good for me, found it excactly where I had been walking it was just a few inches under the grass out of sight
shedhunternick
i have a metal detector and it saved me countless dollers while i was shooting aluminum arrows, cant say the same for carbon because it would only pick up the feild point. ur broadhead is probably on top of the ground after the deer broke it off so just keep following the trail ur deer made.
